It’s pretty hit and miss. We had one guy that took almost 4 months to come back and another guy got his back in a week.

I forgot to answer the question. I did mine just under a month ago and I'm still waiting. My license is 6 expires in 6 months.

I’ve heard if you have a conceal carry permit it comes back pretty quick. Mine took a couple weeks.
Yep we have a post on the wall saying along delay in renewal but I got it back in 3 weeks I have CWP the same driver that we went in together is still waiting 2 months

I never waited to do this . Always did mine early and got my stuff back pretty fast .

I renewed mine end of last year and I never received a letter from the TSA.. they sent it to the registry! If I never contacted my registry I would still be waiting! Registry said come on down we’ve had it for awhile..

In the state I reside, I’m required to get a renewal of my CDL every 4 years, I’m not sure how any other state works. What I did find out was that the TSA background check is valid for 5 years. Now I know that the law is supposed to read every change in your license status. However, they actually let me go the full 5 years, after which I turned in the endorsement and kept all of the other endorsements already on my CDL. I didn’t want to pay for the background check was my reason. So, if it’s taking a while, you might still be in good shape for the 5 years. YMMV

renewed mine in Michigan had it back in 4 hrs. Here you just get an email or text msg stating it has been sent to the state and you are all set.

I’m wondering if the third parties that do these checks are different companies depending on the state. That would account for differences in the return times.

I stopped by the DOT and they don't even have the rack of study books anymore. They told me to just look online.

just google- free( add state in ) CDL Haz Mat study tests. You will get a ton to use
