Progression

I was hired under the old contract and thus I stay on that 2 yr progression. I go to scale in just a few months and I'm currently at 90%.Nothing has changed for me. I was also told that yes there could be new hires come in and make more than some senior guys, but the trade off is it takes them longer to get to scale. I don't agree with it, but that is why I voted NO on this contract. If you don't like this and you voted yes then blame yourself and the other spinelss folks out there. Bottom line as told to myself and others is that you go by contract you were hired under.

People in progression will benefit by the new percentage but will stay on track to hit top rate under the contract they were hired under.

ok one more time:

i will give 3 examples here which will cover all people that are in the 2 year progression. If you were hired before april 1, 2008, you will still be in a 2 year progression.

example one:( less then 1 year before new contract date)

a guy gets hired on 5/18/2007 at the old contract rate of 75% (.75 x 22.23=16.6725), on april 1,2008 he automatically jumps to 85% of the current top pay scale ($22.73), you can do the math for yourself (.85 x 22.73=19.3205). On his 1 year anniversary may 18, 2008 he goes to 90% (.90 x 22.73 = 20.457). On April 1, 2009 he gets 90% of the $0.40 raise (.40 x .90 = 0.36 making his pay 20.457 + .36= 20.817). Then finally on May 18, 2009 2 years later he gets 23.13 (22.73 + .40= 23.13 top pay for that year)

example 2: (more then one year but less then 18 months before new contract)

A guy gets hired on January 5, 2007 at old contract rate of 75% (.75 x 22.23 = 16.6725). On January 5, 2008 he goes up to 80 % (.80 x 22.23=17.784) of old contract rate. On April 1, 2008 he gets bumped up to 90% of new contract rate (.90 x 22.73= 20.457) he then stays at that rate until January 5, 2009 2 years later and goes to top pay od 22.73. Then on April 1, 2009 he gets a $.40 cent raise like everyone else, bringing him to 23.13.

example 3: ( more then 18 months but less then 2 years before new contract)

A guy gets hired on June 1, 2006 at 75 % of old contract rate (.75 x 22.23 = 16.6725). then on June 1, 2007 He goes to 80 % of old contract rate (.80 x 22.23=17.784). 6 months later he goes to 90 % of old contract rate on December 1 ,2007 (.90 x 22.23 = 20.007). On April 1, 2008 he gets 90 percent of the raise (.90 x .50 = .45 giving him a total of 22.23 + .45= 22.68). Then finally on June 6, 2008 2 years later he is at 22.73, then on April 1, 2009 he gets a .40 raise to 23.13.

In case you don't know these are the raises for the next five years

April 1, 2008
$0.50 per hour

April 1, 2009
$0.40 per hour

April 1, 2010
$0.45 per hour

April 1, 2011
$0.40 per hour

April 1, 2012
$0.45 per hour

TOTAL:
$2.20 per hour over 5 years

I DIDN'T get this info from a guy who knows a guy, or heard it from another terminal or my favorite from someone on the CB radio. this info comes from a memo that had yrc company letterhead on it which was explaining this info i just explained to you guys. This is solid information no if ands or buts enjoy.:smilie_132:

In a tight economy, I'm satisfied with the raise. I just wish I was allowed to work and get it. Oh well, I'm sure I can get a USF GM job hauling Yellow/Roadway freight.

this wage progression problem must be prevelent in the roadway system.i ran into a friend from roadway who made the list on 5/07.he told me he is still@75 %. i am @ yellow.i made the list 7/07 and april 1 i went to 85%. see your stewards.you getting short changed and yes we stay 2 year progression.

now if i can only work to enjoy the raise

If they follow the contract there is no way a new hire shold be making more than a senior man......may be making the same but less? no way

My son is at 342 (K.C.) and was told that "THEY" will stay under the progresion rate that "THEY" were hired under. Mustache Retired Roadway:smilie_132:
We were told that also Mustache.. But as this Utility driver was misrepresented to us I think the wage progression may well have been also. The way the contract reads YRC can do as they please on this, they can revert us to a 3 year progression or the two...

I guess some of you guys forgot that under the last contract that when you got hired you were making less to go full time, than when you were driving as a casual! Yes, you took a pay cut to go full time. I would say that would be making less for a senior person. At our terminal, I am told that people hired within weeks of each other, that the senior man is at 80%, and the junior is being paid 85%. What a joke! The AGO dont know even how to fix it yet. Some guys are over paid on a check, then the next week it gets adjusted again. The local dont have any REAL answers for us either. (as usual).

I worked for abf and I did research as well. If you check with your ba he will find there is a memerandum of understanding that the anyone who is currently in progession clause should have been eliminated from the new contract. At ABF, you will get the higher rate but you will also stay on the old progession time. If it wasn't that way then they would owe you back pay for the whole year you were at 75%. The company doesn't get it both ways either. They would have to pay you 10% for your whole wages when you were at 75%. If you are not getting this then you are being cheated. ABF has already settled this with the union.

Thanks Teamster3 for that post. Im going to get in touch with our BA, and find out why he didnt find that out? He has been asked multiple times and we get the same answer.
