It seems to me more and more trailers are being damaged without repair! I know it must cost millions a year to fix all the bars and straps being damaged. Tracks being ripped out of the wall!!!

how can we drop decks if the tracks are broken in half and you can’t get a beam down?

it’s frustrating!

At this rate of damage. It's probably cheaper to replace than it is to repair.

Maybe if they spent more time, and money on training, and retraining of the proper use of these decks, it would help? But if they are hell bent on load factor, and bills per hour only, then it probably will not help.

Most of the damage to safestack is due to laziness. If we had a stock of new bars to replace the worn out ends the system would work fine. I talked to a manager in my reigon six months ago who assured me that a team was being put together “as we speak” to address safestack maintenance and repair at each FAC. Haven’t heard a word since and I know I won’t. If load decks are available, I use them. If not I load around the damaged safestack. Old school.

Our shop is removing old beams from trailers heading to the trailer plant for rebuilds so they can use them for repairs on newer trailers. Wouldn't buy nay new ones until January.

I have come to the conclusion that we should just remove the safe stack bars all together. Why spend the money on something that isn’t used. I’ve seen many people loading on the FAC and not get off motor to use them. I’ve been the breaker that I hauled into the FAC with everything stack on. So why spend the money to repair or install it.

Exactly. It’s a flawed system. They refuse to accept this. Just junk it. Part time dock workers worried about motor moves don’t have any reason or motivation to use the system correctly. If at all. And improper use leads to just as many claims as it might spare. Eliminating the system is a massive net gain. Not just the cost of the system. The beams and their installation and maintenance. But the straps and the plastic deck boards. As well as the labor cost. Dealing with busted beams and half hearted attempts to block or brace freight leads to spending a lot of time recouping. Because this system actually causes a lot of damages. Especially the shark teeth catching any skid of bags or boxes not perfectly stacked. As well as it taking twice as long to load and unload a edeck trailer. Not to mention all the injuries to shoulders and heads. The loss of time injuries and workers comp claims this nightmare nonsense results in.

There is no possible way these things pay for themselves. Let alone break even. The bean counters have to know this. If the bottom line is all that matters. Why have they not intervened and moth balled this glaring and obvious expense ?

Ya so now they throw a band aid on it by the zero load defects. My barn went out and got two step ladders. They still have the cardboard on them and leaning up against the wall in the dispatch office. A big waste of money

I haven't seen much about this idea ( zero load defects ). From what I have glimpsed , zero load defects has folks strapping EVERYTHING? to the wall. EVERYTHING? Even freight that's up on the SafeStack racks?

It's almost like a three year old is running XPO - ZERO LOAD DEFECTS? Really? If we name it what we want it will work.

So we go back to the way things were....I don't know about your place but at my barn half the dock workers we have aren't smart enough or too lazy to properly load freight old school.

That’s what the zero load defect procedure is. Everything on deck needs to be strapped to wall. So loading will take forever because you have to find skid about same height with the straps placement

Good Lord!!! Will someone PLEASE come out of the office , quit looking at numbers on computer screens , and PLEASE !!! PLEASE!!! Talk to someone that does the work!!! Look and see what's going on BEFORE you come up with these stupid solutions that help no one.
