65 years ago today, sad anniversary, "The Day the Music Died"

On February 3, 1959, American rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" J. P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, together with pilot Roger Peterson.

The event later became known as "The Day the Music Died", after singer-songwriter Don McLean coined the phrase in his 1971 song "American Pie".

That particular flight should never happen.

Ice Storm was in progress and they were against the clock. They will get to that concert on time and late already.

Well I guess the Lord has a hell of a concert to this day.

There has been at least three other musician deaths related to aircraft crashes. Ricky Nelson died in a DC3 plane crash, Stevie Ray Vaughn died in a helicopter crash as did Troy Gentry, (Montgomery-Gentry country duo). The details are in listed on Wikipedia. Assuming the Wikipedia details are correct, there was not as many facts as rumors in the past.
