Howdy, just wondering if any of you have any experience with the ABF terminals in the Chicago area. I'm looking at applying in and don't want to get stuck on the bottom for too long. Looking at the Aurora - Oswego terminal in particular, just wondering if anyone has any info on staffing or quality of life in general. Any info is appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I'm not in that area but I'm sure you will get some responses....Welcome to Truckingboards...

You forgot to tell him to be careful if he sees a response in multiple parts! :smile new: (Inside joke)
We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don’t go anywhere. Like the time I took the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you’d say. Now where were we? Oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get were those big yellow ones.

That terminal is a smaller facility on Rt 30 in a pretty quiet area in Oswego. I would go to a smaller facility before a big place like 034. You will be at the bottom no matter where you go, so just go, and don’t look back.
