Why not go to ABF? There are no out-of-paycheck costs for health care,....and you have a choice whether you want to participate in the Teamsters 401(k). You don't have to,....ABF is in a fully employer-funded defined-benefit plan..(...albeit there is a problem with CSPF. Might be a good backup to join the 401(k))...(...but if the funding gets fixed,....you essentially have 2 pensions..).

Teamster companies are notoriously hard to get on with,.......as a family person. The ideal potential employee is....a single person.

There can surely be an argument whether the traditional pension will be as good as it once was,........but there can be no argument that the healthcare in a union carrier is head-and-shoulders above anyone else's.

For one thing,....your employer doesn't tag your paycheck for a "co-pay"............In My Opinion, the biggest lie imposed on employees in some companies.
It doesn't go to your...."healthcare"..........It's really a maintenance fee your employer charges you,...for providing a Health plan.

Either way,....Good Luck to your friend.........
