A violent collision between two tractor-trailers yesterday left one man dead, another shaken up and a Sampson County highway closed for hours.
Shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday, an 18-wheeler carrying a load of logs collided with the empty car-carrier of another truck at the intersection of N.C. 55 and Green Path Road. Twisted steel from the car carrier sliced through the cab of the log truck, cutting it nearly in half and pinning the driver inside.
