Does anyone think after everyone is on these that there could be some company restructuring on some of the 600 mile plus runs?

I think what cabby is saying is you're supposed to carry instructions on how to access the logs so an officer can do it without your help. I know at Sysco they gave us a paper to carry, when I got dot'd he asked if I had it I showed him then he said go ahead and pull up your logs. I think the purpose is so the dot doesn't think you're trying to pull a fast one.

I have heard that there have been some issues with the longer runs about people having to be picked up, but I haven't run into it yet. Maybe it will force then to turn up to 68mph. Or do another COO and change some runs up.

Thank- You JD
Thats exactly what information I was attempting to get out their.
Might I add if you can't bring up your logs they will hang the paper on you.
Texas an Louisanna seem to be doing this at the scale house's.

Ours are pretty simple in that regard it has its own button. You just hit view hos then hit day 8. There is no way to fool dot its why the government made them mandatory in future.

Their are some pretty stupid drivers running OTR.
LTL has a higher caliber of people generally.

At OD they just bumped up the speed on the tractors assigned to those runs. 672 mile run gets a tractor set at 70mph. Much easier then trying to restructure line haul.

While that is good for OD, Fedex will never do that, especially with the government talking about enforcing speed limiters on all trucks, with the speeds being talked about 68, 65, or 60. I would guess that they go with 65, so some runs are going to have to be looked at and adjustments made for them, and if they do go to 60 there will have to be some major changes. But I believe that most companies will push for 65.

Two words of advice from a friend who is already on e-logs. First, always ensure that the instruction booklet, pamphlet or sheet for them is in the cab. Second, always ensure there is a backup paper logbook in the cab in case the system goes down.

While I've never had the first happen to me (an officer asking to see my logs...the one experience I had was the officer seeing the computer and determining that to be good enough for him) I have, exactly once, had to call upon my backup logbook because the system was down for about an hour. Always cover your back door!

They find any runs that only be done on paper with a magic pen?
In Dallas we have a Little Rock turn that CAN'T be done with a 1200rpm truck. FDX has to have a 1500rpm truck on it to work. The powers that be have had to change the start time on it, and it is still a tight run with only 10 minutes or so left.

I hear the 2017 trucks run 900 rpm. Any truth to that. I see a company wide bid change coming because of the new trucks

I have one of the new Pete's, 1200 rpms and I get passed by everyone. Will not climb a hill and I loose around 20 minutes more than I did with the kw I had.
