I spent 12 years at the sb 209 terminal, which is South Bend, Indiana. I left when Yellow bought the corporation in 1993, as I could see they had no interest in keeping Preston. My personal opinion Preston was the best freight company to work for. They were named one of the best 100 companies in america to work for, and that is quite an honor for a trucking company. (as they were the only one to accomplish this)
I probally work with a dozen of the guys that came over after preston closed, sb was a shippers dispatch board before preston bought them, and a lot of the drivers retired.
Companies like Preston have almost all gone to the wayside, most of the trucking companies today are owned by corporations that have stockholders to answer to.
