Multiple agencies responded to a hazmat incident at a truck stop in Lenoir City, Tennessee, on Thursday evening.
According to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, TN, (LCSO) first responders were called to the scene of the TA Truck Stop on Watt Road for a semi truck reportedly leaking hazardous material.
The truck stop was temporarily evacuated, according to WATE.
The Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency later said that the leaking substance was peroxyacetic acid, which can be corrosive.
Officials said that two people sought medical attention after exposure to the leak. Others reported eye and ear irritation, but LCSO said that the leak did not cause a threat to public health.
The hazmat leak was contained by 10 p.m. on Thursday, according to local authorities, though a team remained on scene to continue cleanup.
Responding agencies include LCSO, Loudon County EMA, Loudon County Fire/Rescue, and Tennessee EMA.
