Simple answer. No.
The only reason to use the cruise is to get the extra speed. As stated. There are to many draw backs to the adaptive cruise control. Which had many of us holding the pedal down even while using it, mostly to override all the stupid computer braking. Large signs on the side of the road ? Hits the brakes. Get passed by a big truck ? Hits the brakes. Go under a bridge ? Hits the brakes. Some 4 wheel realizes they are late for their exit and jerks the wheel from the hammer across your nose at 90 mph ? Hits the brakes. Someone threw a plastic bag out the window and it's floating around like a ghost on the highway ? Hits the brakes.
Simply. The system is garbage. And the company does nothing to maintain it. So it's even worse than it actually is. If the truck had what I have in my Mazda. I'd use it all the time. I love the side sensors. That light up on the mirror. I like having a on the dash display of what the computer is seeing. And of course. It's calibrated and maintained properly. Because I am able to demand it be. I don't get ignored by the guy at the dealer when I tell him I want something fixed or adjusted on my personal vehicle. Getting XPO to fix something on the truck is difficult. They are swamped with broken crap in the shop and given no parts to do anything about it. And as it comes to the radar or the EOBR or the drive cam. They know nothing about any of it.
