We have lost one of our finest. Karl Gleffe, road driver from South Chicago has passed away. A great guy, never asked anyone for anything, but would give you the shirt off his back and would ask you if you needed a jacket.....that kind of guy. A couple of weeks into his new bid to Minnesota last bid, Karl slipped and fell in a hotel room during his rest period and injured himself, requiring surgery to get well. During his hospitalization, he contracted a MRSA infection and went into septic shock for a period of time. He was not expected to survive. However with the grace of God he recovered, but the damage was already done. He went in for another surgery that he felt that he was not strong enough for, but with any hope for survival, required the procedure. He never made it home again. We will miss Karl, and our condolences go out to his family suffering this tragic loss. He loved his job here at ABF and was finally able to hold a nice bid. To a brother Teamster, dedicated fellow employee, husband, father, grandfather, we wish you eternal peace. Rest well my good friend, we will take the wheel from here. SALUTE!
