where I am at we can't protect our daytime bid, if you can pass then yes you can but if they need you you have to run at night

Yeah dispatch will always need that RIGHT driver while lower guys go 80 miles away..

Sure you can. You’ll just only get benefits for the 4 other days you weren’t offered work. This also depends on what state you live in.

Does the policy state anything about daytime bid guys dovetailing to nights xtraboard?

At my hub day time bids who aren’t getting out are coming to nights and then pushing back the xtraboard and making things more difficult.

Let the bleeding begin

There’s no policy on that even though it is said to “cover your run”. If a daytime bid gets canceled they’ll go to the top of the xtra board. Especially if it’s a hub that has multiple lanes as day runs. If not, they should be offered to work the dock. Last resort, go to the top of the xtra board on the PM side for a night run. Been like this for decades.

Yeah it actually sucks. You are a certain number Mon-Wed then find out Thurs you are 2 spots back because of daytime. Again they are making the bleeding worse by this.

How can someone just come off of THEIR day run and go to a whole opposite shift. You are just abandoning your bid and it makes no sense

Mgmt allows this. It’s usually offered to a daytime bid driver. But by choice of the driver. Or that driver can just skip a cycle(PM runs), use their PTO or No Pay and take a chance the following morning on their daytime bid run to run again. Been like this for yrs hand.
