Well I made the leap. After several years with Abf, I am going back to the non union side and I am excited. I have a different mindset than union employees as I came from a non union company to Abf. Hopefully starting by first or May or mid May. Background check good, dot physical done and certified. Just waiting on results of drug test which said would take 24-48 hrs

Pretty simple and easy. Not a big learning curve other than few differences on way estes does paperwork and lil different on eld
Estes will give you plenty of time to learn. You will learn more out on your own than with the trainer. My trainer slept for most of the time i was driving.

It’s not hard. The biggest thing to learn is where to drop at some yards, and where the empties or loads are. Which is an adventure in itself.
True. I have dropped in the wrong place a few times, but to be fair some of the yards are so crowded you have to drop where you can. Ive drove around a few yards and just said here where it's getting dropped. Im not getting paid by the hour to circle the yard until a spot where they prefer it be dropped opens. They have a trailer finder just like we do.

I always love when you ask a spotter where they keep the empties and the tell you anywhere. Like you're just supposed to walk around and check every trailer in there. At least at ABF they gave you a list of trailers that could be empty.

Was told by dispatch in Atlanta when i needed an empty she said just look until you find one and don't ask the hostlers because they will lie to you and tell you there are none because they like to keep them for the dock when needed. Its shame to have to hunt anywhere when we aint getting paid by the hour to check trailers to see if they are empty.
