Let me guess, this is only on the PM side? You should try to apply their logic on Monday morning. Call in at 9am if you didn't get a run and let them know you're on your way in to work the dock for 8 hours. If your run is canceled or you are an extra bored driver with no run available, you are required to come and and work the dock for 8 hours. This started about 5 months ago.
Why would someone not want to come in and work the dock if there isn't a run available? I'm here to make money. Don't make much sitting at the house hoping you get a run.If your run is canceled or you are an extra bored driver with no run available, you are required to come and and work the dock for 8 hours. Also has to do with way people set their lifestyle up. Not every single FedEx employee solely depends on Fedex income. There’s other things in life that makes moneyIt's a gamble. 2 decent runs will pay the same as 40 dock hours. It's all a matter of how comfortable you are with rolling the dice.
We have road drivers that are willing to take a cc to help out the lower drivers, but this new practice makes that impossible to do, because if you choose not to run to help someone else you must come in and work the dock.
If they're not giving the option, you need to call the alert line. That's against policy, as I understand.well i guess reasonable deduction leads me to believe Nashville is making up new rules not posted in the knowledge base. Like I posted earlier, im not trying to cause a stink. Im just trying to find out if this is just a nashville thing, or if other terminals are practicing this approach.
