when the stock splits and the price comes down interest in the stock goes up. When the investor see the return on investment percent, they buy. when a lot of investors buy price goes up again. existing stock owners make money just by having shares.

Investment per cent return doesn't change because of split. Dividends are adjusted in proportion to split ratio. The split just adjusts the share price to a better trading range to attract more retail investors. Existing share owners see no change in their holding value because of the split itself.
