"Hands-free cell phone use was up 27% in 2018, according to Lytx, which reports that 65% of all cell-phone use was hands-free among the fleets it tracks, which Warlick said was one of the good trends in the data.

Lytx found a 10% increase in the overall volume of events in which drivers using hands-free devices engaged in one or more other potentially risky distractions as well, such as eating, drinking, smoking or using another device."

"Economic improvements in the contract are retroactive to August 1, 2018."

"The UPS contract includes wage increases of $4.15 per hour for both full-time and part-time workers over the term of the contract and increases the part-time start rate by $2.50 retroactively to August 1, 2018. All full-time and part-time UPS Teamsters will continue to receive health insurance for the member and their family without paying premiums. The agreement also strengthens grievance enforcement for harassment with a sitting arbitrator and monetary penalties, and a new procedure to make it easier to get on or off the overtime list."
 
21 technicians advance to Top Wrench Finals

Of the 661 FedEx Freight technicians who signed up for the Top Wrench qualifying exam, 21 are now set to compete at the Top Wrench Finals June 2-6 in Harrison, Ark. These 21 technicians advanced to the finals through their performance at the Top Wrench Regionals held in Las Vegas, Nev., where a total of 72 technicians competed.
