You have a way you didn't mention: pay less money to drivers. If the company wanted to limit linehaul drivers to 80 thousand. There are only two ways I can see for them to do that. One way would be to have long runs be four day weeks and one short or night off, this wouldn't work cause every barn would need more drivers to cover days and we can't hire them. Second way would be shorter runs but that would mean more FACs to lessen miles between them. This wouldn't work for my barn. We are end of line for two FACs. So I think it would cost more now and wouldn't look good if XPO want to sell in the short term
True. Didnt want to go easy routeYou have a way you didn't mention: pay less money to drivers.
I also think this will never happen. Our longest l/h run is 163 miles each way (not long run right?) and most earn at least 75k. I heard that city drivers were not going to work o/t on the outbound, that should make for some late dispatch times. We heard from our TM that no driver will make more than $80,000 a yr is the goal of the company . He also told the President of our local that also. Please don't shoot the messenger .
I would welcome this - but it's hard to see. If management would allow it right now , I would sign up for 8 hours , no overtime , go home , get off the clock work. This is attractive to a lot of city drivers , and the Holy Grail of driving jobs - a set quitting time. The ability to plan a life after a days work.I also think this will never happen. The local OD where LTA used to be is extremely busy. I was told that this has been traditionally a slow time of the year but not this year. Running through their butts to cover P&D along with linehaul runs there. I haven't heard that they cut any rates. Maybe more business for all because of Trump being elected, he's a business man president not an attorney one and people have their hopes up? Just speculation on why.This. This is the only reason were busy. I don't know if they actually did cut rates but I absolutely believe they did and if they didn't we'd be sitting ducks.
I've been hearing gossip that sometime around March , executives will be looking to trim underperforming locations - similar to what happened previously.
They did say something about cutting about $250,000,000 off the operating cost at the last town hall meeting. Something about adding more cube to the trailers also. I have no clue as to how both will be accomplished. But I can guess.

Yeah , running out of ways to show improvement. At least easy ways. Gains this year will take actual work and thought put into it. Low hanging fruit has been picked.Or add more subservice eliminating more road positions and forcing guys back to the city where they only make 55.

I think we still have the policy in place where a Vice President has to approve all new hires. How long until they start claiming that they just can't hire drivers ? So that they can flood us with dockhands ? Part timers making half what we do with no benefits ? How long ? You give it this year ? Next ? Can't be very far away.
Our SCM had to submit a proposal to hire and Tony Brooks had to ok it to hire. That was 3 months ago we can't get anyone to apply even with a $500 sign on bonusI think we still have the policy in place where a Vice President has to approve all new hires.

This just show the state of our company. Good places to work don't need to put out signs, run ads, and have hiring bonus. When you have a good place to work people come knocking on your door. Our SCM had to submit a proposal to hire and Tony Brooks had to ok it to hire.
