You have INSPECTED the TRACTOR, now it is time to go find your EQUIPMENT (trailer/jiff and trailers).
1. Do you hook up right away?
1a. Do you take the first jiff you see?
b. What do you look for about the jiff (How about AIR FLOW)?
2.You now are ready to back under the trailer what do you look for?
3.You hooked to the trailer, before getting out of the tractor what do you do?
4.You are now ready to hook up the air/electrical lines, What do you look for?
5.Did you already raise your landing gear, hope not. Did you go back into the tractor and supply air to the trailer and turn on your lights, WHY?
6.Start tractor (make sure you are out of gear),build up air pressure, turn off tractor. With trailer air supply knob in (parking brake knob out). What should you look for?
6a. How much air loss in how much time?
7. Put tractor in gear (chock wheels if need be). Push tractor brake knob in, step on foot brake. What schould you look for?
7a. How much air loss in how much time?

Answers; #1; NO, INSPECT those trailers, check the papers.
#1aand 1b; INSPECT the jiff, hook air line (red) from tractor to lead red line to jiff, push in red knob, do you hear air flow going into or through other end of red line which would hook to trailer, do you hear air flow from bleeder valve, close valve, block red end air line to allow some air into air tank,go into tractor pull red knob, can you move the jiff (if you have air in tank jiff should not roll), open bleeder valve to bleed air,can you move jiff. There is one step that I left out on, do you know what that was (very important) as alot of people do NOT check.
#2; Easy to remember, P.A.L.S.
P; PIN, check height of, alignment of trailer (back under trailer and hook)
A; Air Lines and Electrial plug (hook up and check)
L; Landing Gear Legs (go under trailer and check jaws are around kingpin, raise landing gear (All THE WAY UP)
S; Secure, tug test and other inspections to continue.
Well enough for today will answer more tomorrow'

Continue; 3. PULL PARKING BREAK, PUT TRACTOR IN GEAR.
4. Gland hand seals.
5.,6,6a,7,7a;.Now when you supply air to trailer you are going to lose some air to trailer tank, let air pressure stablize (note pressure).Put tractor in gear and push in tractor brake. You are now ready to do 2nd test of air leak rate check, 3psi in 1min max. Step on foot brake no more than 4psi in 1 min.Check air pressure and build up if necessary. Time to perform LOW AIR LIGHT AND BUZZER (BOTH HAVE TO WORK),they come on at 60 psi. Test tractor protection valve and parking brake they should pop out between 20-45psi. Trailer brake knob FIRST !!!!!

See at next TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
