I drove a new Fliner the other night, equipped with all the new safety features. I went to Wytheville Va, not many hard pulls but not level by any means, 20,000lbs up and 28,000 lbs back. Tanks were full when I left and I filled when I returned, 398 miles on 50 gallons of fuel= 7.96 mpg. My point is with the new E log requirement what harm would it be to instead of losing some high paying runs to set the trucks at 63 pedal and 70mph on cruise? MPG is higher than ever now, the trucks are safer than ever now with lane departure warnings to keep us alert and adaptive cruise to keep us from running to close to the one in front of us, and cameras to protect us. The poor pulling power of the Fliners vs. the Volvo's would be compensated by the extra MPH where lost ground could be made up on the open road at 70 mph.
