Don't be such a naysayer/doubting Thomas, these are like big flounder and they don't tend to run, they're just hard as hell to get up off the bottom, that's where they hang out. I know a guy who caught one of them on a trip to Kodiak and he said it was like reeling in a Volkswagen. I haven't caught a Halibut yet but Flounder can come just about to the surface and you don't even know they're on there, then when they get near sunlight they start swimming in circles.That is a big fish. Imagine you are on one of those charters & a BIG fish grabs your bait & proceeds to strip the line off your reel in the next 2 minutes. You never see how big it is but standing there watching the line peel right off your reel, who needs to see the fish. Just imagine. Sounds like the fishing needs to be done with some ½ galvanized chain & a meat hook. Watching your line being removed from your reel, & nothing you can do about it, priceless. Von.
