POINT PLEASANT - No one was injured when a tractor-trailer driver lost control of his truck and struck a utility pole next to U.S. 35 Friday.

At about 7:20 a.m., Mason County emergency crews were called to the scene of a semi-truck striking a telephone pole on U.S. 35 near Henderson, according to the police report.

Siddiqi F. Abbas, 40, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was driving south when a vehicle in front of him slowed to make a left turn. Unable to stop his truck in time, Abbas dodged the car to his right, then failed to maintain control. The 2000 Freightliner semi, owned by Fredrick Freight of Canada, Mississauga, carried forward and hit a telephone pole.
