Welcome to the boards, rh..........seems the current layoffs have something to do with saving money on paper. But what do I know!? DS.
for whatever reason UPPER, UPPER management continues to mandate layoffs at the local levels, despite the fact that it has really not gotten any slower, and most that are on layoff, continue to work pretty regularly....it's only MY opinion.....but it seems to me this is how the company is getting around the 10% rule, and gives them TOTAL flexibility to work all these guys however, whenever, and whoever they want......hey d.s., maybe it's time for the union to do a little inquiring? We all know, as long as this is working for them, THE LAYOFFS WILL CONTINUE ........the g-man:red_bandana:Welcome to the boards, rh..........seems the current layoffs have something to do with saving money on paper. how many times does boinger think the men will fall for being called back, only to get layed off time and time again?Everybody was called back at 120, not many returned. They started working casuals this past Sat.
That's the way we all should be doing it..Hey Nite Rider............I doubt Knoxville has any layoffs on the dock considering the COO didn't fill and dockworkers from 411 are working there. 671 (Winston) is a classified terminal and in the dock classification there are 55 dock guys laid off. Now if all our guys were back, it would be a little different.
The only problem I have with the UE position is when UE drivers are working mainline freight and our guys are setting at home. DS.
This lay off has been way to long, and all due to switching from board to board. If people would realize if we carried our company seniority over half of us would not be laid off. Its to bad when you move from one board to the next you lose your seniority, and start from the bottom. WHo ever voted for this wasn't thinking, and I honestly hope it doesn't bite them back someday. I feel if we have enough employee's to vote against this we could at least work for a company that we already have put our time into.
well roadie, sorry yrc hasnt been to kind too you, dont feel alone on that .those jackass's at the top have been telling us for a longtime "change is good " they might be right and i hope you made the right move , maybe they are finally right about something !!!!hope all works out just like ya want it too gl
Thirty or thirty five years ago maybe.. But the reality is in today's America you cannot support a family on a casual's pay and hours. Sure there are college kids that do it and some folks who take it as a part-time job, but replacing people with casuals won't work not in today's enviroment. Plus the costs associated with retraining people constantly has to be huge from claims to the man hours invested...personally i think the company is just hiding behind the economy. its there excuse for doing what they do..
breaking the union is the main objective now days .get rid of men under 20 years service and never replace them , or replace them with a casual work force.
