Maybe I'm not seeing the big picture here, but why exactly are we working on New Years Eve? It p*sses me off that our big wheels are so GREEDY that we have to be out on the road with the drunk drivers to make them a dollar. Where are they going to be tonight? At home with their families. It may be wrong of me to feel this way, but the profits that are planned for today, I hope FedEx loses 2 or 3 times that amount for today so maybe they will think next year to shut the doors for a holiday. Am I wrong feeling this way? Yea I want the company to grow, but I feel that this aint the way to go about it.

I don't like the idea of it also, but the way i was also thinking is that they don't want to overload the hubs on monday when we go back to work. Think about the freight levels now, basicly 2 days of picked up freight they have to shuffle on the outbound then multiply that @ the hubs by all the points that go through there and it adds up to alot. Now this is not my first day i remember the freight levels years back and we did'nt work new years, but i also think the troubles that yrc is having they just wanted to be prepared. That's just me thinking, anyways have a good new year.

Corporate Pigs!!!

This is what happens when working for corporate pigs! While we're working, the execs are home with their families getting lit up.... all while laughing at the decision they made to have us work tonight.

And the arguement that the hubs would be over loaded on Monday.... well, we had Thursday and Friday off last week. Monday was just fine. We ran a skeleton crew (at best) today in the city and made NO pickups! None, Nada, Zero!!! Everyone was either closed or closing at noon.

Why not allow us to run to the hub on Friday or Saturday night. This I think would be a good compromise.

Oh well, for a company that is so afraid of it's people organizing.... they're not doing a very good job at taking care of their people.... the same people that got them to where they are today.

I don't even get me started on the use of purchase trailers.... especially when they treat those drivers better than our own company drivers. It's really unbelievable to watch.

I would hope that our production at the hub tonight would be dismal.... like 2 BPH. What's the point in trying to get out early anyway.... the damage is done already by working us needlessly while the rest of the world celebrates in unison.:eck13:

I agree with everything you wrote except the first paragraph.

You seem to think that they think of us at all. We are procedures. Nothing more, nothing less. We are tools. They don't laugh at us, we don't matter enough to be conversation or even thought about.

That is the difference between us and them. To them, we don't exist in a human way, and to us, well, they aren't human.

You hit it right on:1036316054: We are running line haul tonight so we are not backed up with 2 days of freight on monday. Has nothing do do with greed.

I'll be out there freezing my rear off on the dock.... Everybody be extra careful tonight ! And when it gets there for us who are working, have a Great New Years !!!

I don't know about you but I'm out on the road with the drunks every night. Tonight is no different. It sure is nice to hear guys bitc hing about having too much work. It's a far cry from last year.

New Years Eve from the wives perspective

Instead of spending your time griping about having to work, lets all spend our time thinking of how blessed we are that you guys still have work, and praying for a safe night for all those drivers out on the road tonight! Like mine is........:smile1:

they worked us at saia for the same reason.in case of a yrc shut down.now alot of us have monday off.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it's our customers that expect their stuff to be where it's supposed to be when we promised to deliver it, no matter what sacrifices have to be made. Since we are in the business of satisfying them I think they come first.
