I am thinking about filling out the application for the Brooklyn Oh. terminal. From what I can tell, on linehaul you are gone all week. That's no big deal, I used to do that before I got into LTL. My question is what does linehaul pay and what are the benefits? My largest concern is the pension. Thanks

What pension? If that's your biggest concern look elsewhere!

pension is a joke , as they only pay in 25% of what they are suppose to pay in ,so you have to work 4 years to accrue 1 year of pension time !!! , go look for a job with a matching 401-K , and where you don't have to give back -15% pay from day one !!!

At Con-Way, Our Pension was froze. I am a 15 year employee, I will collect $500 a month before taxes, for only 5 years.

Has the pension been froze for 10 of your 15 years? How much is your insurance and is it 100% hospitalization and a ppo? Seniority rights? Birthday and anniversary off with pay, along with 5 sick days to use whenever you wish.Do you get paid time and a half after 8 hours of work? Can you file charges on a supervisor for acting ass? Can you get paid for an unjust suspension or discharge?

I am a 15 year employee and the pension has been froze for 10 years. It is not going to be re-instated. The insurace is mostly major medical with 2500 deduct. per person cost is 100 week. Senority rights basically. I get a total of 4 weeks off a year. Includes sick days. Time and a half after 8 if in the city. No and No

I am telling you the truth, we have sevral x conway and one on his 30 days the ones who have been here say this is a much better job.If you start all over with a union line I will tell you your start time may never be as good as what you have now.Insurance is at no cost and a 400 family deductable, the best in the industry.I would suggest asking holland drivers in your area and prayer before changing jobs.

I think I'll do that. What channel on the radio does Holland drivers hang out on in the Great Lakes area, any idea? Thanks Alot.

I agree, if you are looking for a pension, this may not be the place. You will get the 25% of the NMFA amount plus you can choose to participate in the Teamsters National 401k. I would guess if you are on the open board you will end up making more $ than where you are at, and no cost for insurance. As far as the 15% wage reduction, if you never had it, are you losing anything. Cleveland is a busy barn, I think you would do well there.

Try to talk to Holland guys from that terminal, or call the Local and see if the Business agent can get you in touch with the Steward. It is important to find out if they have some lower paying bids, that might get forced on the bottom man.

Ch. 33 for those who run a radio

Instead of spending so much energy talking this dump up, why dont you put it towards learning how to load down there in Atlanta? You clowns can really wreck some freight.

One day maybe the freight men in Atlanta can be as good as you.
As far as posting on here If I were you I would spend my time looking for another job instead of constantantly insulting and complaining about the miserable company you work for.Surely a man of your superiority doesn't have to spend his years at a company he can't stand. If I felt the way you do, with all the better managed ltl jobs out there hiring, I would have been gone long ago.

Maybe the "freight men" in Atlanta should learn simple math. A 1000 lbs skid stacked on a 200 lbs skid for 900 miles equals destroyed freight. If yall could read, yall could comprehend what "do not stack" or "fragile" is. Get out from under the TM'S desk and use a load bar every now and then, that triple stacked freight isn't going to make it around the block with a 3 foot skid in front of it.

I don't load anything but city freight and I can't control what goes on on outbound.Maybe $12.00 /hour casuals with no training. Why don't you bend over your tm's desk and maybe get the managers job you have been dreaming of.
