FedEx Freight | If union is voted yes.

My dues break down to about 41 cents an hour based on 160 hours straight time per month. I have family medical insurance (includes dental @ $2500 per year per person and eye insurance which is a plan I personally do not like) I pay $34 per week (UPSF) That amount was set for 5 years when we agreed to our contract. So if you break down the dues per week and figure it's part of your medical copayment it is roughly $51 per week. Plus you have representation and a contract spelling out what you will be receiving for the next 5 years when looking at at dues as part of your copay is free. I've been union for 31 years. Less than 2 weeks of that time has been spent on a strike line. Face it, strikes are about a thing of the past. The companies can not afford them anymore than the workers can. Lost freight in a tight market is a hard thing to replace.

Hey three6five I don't know about you but the main reason I want the union in is first and foremost the benefits. These bennys completely stink. I had a family member go to 3 physical therapy sessions and it wiped out my hra. Now I have to spend $3000 out of my pocket before they start to pick it up and only %80. Also to a lot of my good colleagues out there it's respect. This company is running amok over us and now they're running scared. Maybe it took the union talk for them to start changing some things. You can sugar coat it any way you want but it's time for us to band together across this great land and let them know that we also mean business.

Chicken****. There are no guarantees in anything. You are not guaranteed to get a " better deal" if you go union, but it for sure won't be worse. And, the single most important thing in the whole issue - you will be represented and the company will be forced to treat you the same as everybody else. Which , probably scares you because I'm sure you are worried about losing your " special place" under the desk !

Mr. Threadstarter, there are no guarentees that when all is said and done, that the union carriers will all still be here to uphold AANY standards for you. There must come a time when you nonunion guys realize that we all need eachother to uphold the standatds of our trade. The companies wont do it without a union to regulate the business. Tbis may be yours and our last chance to have any say in our standards.

look at the #'s 3 terminals out of 300 plus terminals...go to sleep...enjoy your holiday weekend coming up...lets put this to sleep (labor day weekend)...you want union UPS ABF YRC is hiring....best of luck

What will your argument be when it's more terminals? I also think the number of terminals is more like 220. When it's a dozen terminals including hubs then what will you say ?

Should those union carriers board up over the next decade, then what? I left pizza delivery in 91 for trucking for more pay, a "real job". But since you guys all choose to ride the union coattails instead of standing up for yourselves, some pizza delivery guys make more on the weekend tham truckers/dockworkers make all week. What made trucking a real job was worker participation in the union. Now its just a job. Laziness and fear and brainwashing has ruined the trade amd our country.

Right now we should be making a fortune. There's a driver shortage. Big oil has used shortage to jack the rates up for years.
Tje reason we arent making out is all the excuses that the unionbusters and antiunion workers have used which has kept the union percentage low in the trade.
If we were mostlly all union as it was before deregulation with a driver shortage we'd be living like kings. The dominance of the trade by nonunions has us all back to the wall living like paupers.

Keeping in mind that these large corporations are making the largest profits they have ever made all the while the employees wages and benefits have been going down.

For some, that's just fine. There boss man likes them. The company likes them. Making a living, well that comes after doing right for the boss man.
