I would rather have an Insurance bureaucrat for the simple reason that it was never the intention of the framers of the Consitution for Government to be part of it!
Remember what happens every time the Fed gets involved with something that used to be privite sector. IT COSTS MORE! And you end up with less freedom!
Government is NOT the answer to everything! Ask how that concept worked out in Europe.
It worked out great in Europe. That Volvo truck you're driving was built by a Swedish company. The cell phone your reading this on uses technology from a German company -- the low-tech parts came from China, the high-tech parts from Germany. Both the Swedish and German working class have a higher standard of living than the U.S. working class. The CEOs make far less then comparable U.S. CEOs. There is no lack of freedom there. More vacation, higher pay, "free" health care, solvent pensions.
Use up some of what's left of the vacation the YRC bureaucrats have left for you and visit Europe. I think you'll be surprised at what you see.
Reread my post. I didn't say anywhere that Government is the answer to everything.
Which is cheaper your phone bill or your cable bill? One of those is regulated by government; the other is regulated by corporate bureaucrats who own private-sector monopolies. Which is cheaper UPS or USPS? Depends somewhat on the service your buying. But there are some parts of country where no private-sector carrier can touch USPS prices. In fact, UPS sued USPS to make them stop advertising USPS's cheaper than private sector services. When you reach 65 your medical bills become very cheap -- thank your government medicare bureaucrat for that.
The Framers of the Constitution had no concept of modern medicine. However, Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution: “The Congress shall have the Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and GENERAL WELFARE of the United States."
Very surprising that a good American such as yourself would choose Corporate totalitarianism over good-old American democracy, and three other people agreed. Amazing. The degree of anti-Americanism in the right-wing is ... well, I feel sorry that you feel that way about your own government.
I assume you listen to a lot of talk radio. Me too. Well, I used to. Not so much anymore. But give Thom Hartman a listen. He has had Junior Hoffa on a couple of times. But actually, that's probably a reason not to listen. Junior Hoffa is an embarrassment of a leader.
