BALTIMORE- Distracted Semi Driver Pushed A Car off Bay Bridge dropped 27FT

So this idiot was distracted by lights and sounds? I hope he never has to drive thru chicago on I80-94 during rush hour.

Semi's pushing cars over bridge rails were very rare occurrences.
However it seems there have been 2,or 3 this year alone.

Hope this is a trend that won't continue.

This is what happens when you let newbies fend for themselves. IMO, the FMCSA needs to start cracking down on trainee requirements. You need at LEAST 6 months with a trainer, and that truck should NEVER be ran as a team truck. A proper training truck would mean that trainer needs to do nothing but ride shotgun and babysit the student.

Also, newbies do NOT belong on the east coast.

When I was a UPS Freight safety trainer I trained dock workers enough to do yard switches.
Also had to evaluate the possible new hires.
Must admit some of those newbies had no business driving any commercial vehicles.
I wondered how they ever even passed the CDL tests?

When I was done with short runs around the block with some.
I told them to come back and re-apply after they got more experience somewhere else.
I had that power & I never baulked at sending them away, knowing they would have been a liability.
