"Caritas in veritate" - Encyclical Letter of His Holiness Benedict XVI

Im not gonna preach or argue here.
If you're not Catholic ignore it.
But if you ate or if any bosses are I would refer you to at least the last sentence or so of #25 in that link and follow that link in that sentence to Rerum Novarum. #3 in that one is good.
Any questions on Catholic Law on unions can be found in these and the references pointed out in them.
The link was written in 2007-8 in response to the economic crisis. Rerum Novarum was written just before 1900 I think.
Unions ate good in the Churchs eyes. And should be honoured now more than ever i think it says.
Anyways the link is an Encylical Letter which is considered infallible and is Church Law.
If you're Catholic and question the morality of unions. Th answer is here. I woul avoid the unionbusting game also if you happen to be a supervisor. Thats my opinion.

I'll have what he's smoking

Some people in this country say unions are part of the economic problem. The Pope writes them as part of the solution.
I like to put it out there because alot of people have been trained to think unions are bad. Here are Laws and writings from the largest group of organized Christians in the world which encourages unions and says its not good to discourage them.

Leo XIII - Rerum Novarum

Read #3 in there. This is from the leader of all Catholics in the world.
I think this is from a time when communism/socialism/ Marxism was on the rise. Im not a scholar but you can see what hes saying. The ancient workingmans guilds were gone. Very few rich men held all power and it was getting ugly.
Union numbers are only 6% in the private sector now. Its getting there.

Whats it say about child molestation running rampant?

I wouldn't put a ton of stock in what the Catholic Church says in regards to much of anything.

I'm just stunned that some folks are so desperate to convince us to join the union that they drag the pope into the process. Guess that proves the union really is a religion. Save me from myself and my failures Father Business Agent. I can't do my job and so I need you to protect me from myself.

Pathetic...simply pathetic.

Why is everyone who is for the union painted with the same broad stroke of needing the union to protect them from themselves? Why are we all lazy incompetent bums incapable of holding a job? What's wrong with wanting our fair share of benefits? What's wrong with wanting a decent retirement after working your whole life for a 32 billion dollar corporation? We helped build this company; therefore we should enjoy the fruits of our labor beyond our working years. Maybe you think they should pay us in scrip like the old cotton mills and coal mines. Then, when we're unable to work anymore they can just throw us away. ST needs to thank his veterans for his freedom, and his union for what he presently enjoys daily at work. You wouldn't have it as well as you do today without them both.

Who would you put a ton of stock in regards to what they say?
Assuming you are a driver, I know the ton of stock idea is most probably not reality.
Just curious.

Considering the hub which has petitioned is in Newark I looked up some stuff.

57% of Newark profess to be Catholic.

1,320,000 people.
It should matter to some.
42-43% of NJ says theyre Catholic. Theyre in the top four Catholic states in the country. The Pope is coming to Philly next year. Most probablly because Catholics are there.
Just sayin that in some areas it should matter wht the Popes say.

Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philly has about 1,465,000 Catholics.
38% of Philly claim to be Catholic.
58% of Newark.
42-44% of Jersey.

Thats some good backup.
Plus they have Eastern Regional Freight Director Ernie Soehl and his Assistant President Cunningham from Local 641 over there.
Id say the pro union guys are in a great spot.
The guys with some apprehension could really just drop it imo. Theres really not much need for fear as long as they take advice from the union.

Of course im a driver, and moreso, for Fedex Freight. Unlike the recent wave of new posters on this forum, that are overwhelmingly Pro-Nanny state , but yet, don't even work for this company. .

Honestly, trying to tie religion to a union is about as moonbat, liberal as anything to date.

Your topic is bad, and you should feel bad.

I dont get the pro nanny state thing. Sorry ya dont like the topic. No I dont drive forFedex. I do for New Penn.
And Id love to see us all in the same game again. Thats the way it was when this job was worthwhile and moving forward for the driver......not everybody BUT the driver. Im not a liberal either. As nions got smaller public assistance increases. Those writings are from Popes. Not hippie libs.

Confession today Catholic unionbusting Fedex /Jackson Lewis bosses. Get in there, and think hard about repeating the same stuff before taking communion. Your soul or money?
Quit that Jackson Lewis firm. Its not worth it.

Them lawyers are all Jews.

You so smart and you didn't know that ?

Wow, now an attack on Jewish people? You should be smart enough not to make ⓇⒶⒸⒾⓈⓉ remarks like that....

Jews aren't a race. It's a religion. And since that is the case, they are not Catholic. And there are no Catholic Jews.

And while there are some Catholic lawyers. I am sure they suck and stick to traffic court stuff.

Just pointing out that it is difficult to say " Your soul or money ? " to a group of people whose beliefs you do not accept or understand.
