I am a PROUD Union member, my Father & both Grandfathers worked for Roadway Express, NOT Roadway your way... We never thought that we would see a time where the IBT would spend money sending out letters encouraging US to vote for a contract. WTF? Both the company & the Union know that the MAJORITY of our membership CAN NOT afford to vote NO! Walk the line, Hell no, not with a mortgage payment, car payment, college, etc... IBT membership is WAY down, companies are hiring whoever they can get to pass a drug test, NOT qualified applicants like in the past... Our members are more SELFISH than ever and just want a paycheck, (not all, but you know what I mean...)! Competition is more INTENSE than ever before in LTL trucking, the ELITE executives are more SELFISH than ever, (GREED)! I know that most Old school brothers see these same things happening before OUR eyes but CAN NOT put them into words on this DAMN computer! We need to get together once a year & have a BROTHERHOOD meeting in face to face & let it ALL out... An HONEST days work for an HONEST days pay... I WILL NOT TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF OUR JOBS FOR NOTHING like non-union drivers do!! If the IBT goes away I don't know what I would do. I love this job but I don't WORK for FREE... Feedback please...

i hear ya !!! read what i posted under [any terminals dovetailed yet ] i was writing that while you where posting this

I personally think that the IBT has been bought. It just seems to me like the union hall does not care for anyhing other than collocting the union dues. maybe Im wrong saying that but I have heard that from several brother/sisters at our barn.

Its all about survival now. That's my take on it anyhow.

I'm afraid that we might be witnessing the demise of the freight teamster. The IBT will go on organizing small shops and representing cops, flight attendants etc. But we might be telling our grandkids what the NMFA was and what it meant to us. It's a sad time to be a Teamster.

There is several people people at LCP who have been laid off and are unable to even carry health insurance. At the same time, people like Adam D. have worked a 7th punch the last 4 weeks and this week had 40 hours OT. (12 of that was a 7th punch & double time) Just one guy out of how many....? Now Adam D. knows the end is near and he is the last on the call board at this present time. Anyhow, a guy who is on the street calls Local 771 up and tells James W. (BA) about this outrage. Furthermore, James W. goes on to tell him that the IBT allowed it in the contract and he's pretty much screwed... :nutkick:

I agree. I wish it were not so, but I can see the writing on the wall.

People get what they vote for .They voted for a name and that was all.Or they did not vote at all.Just like the up coming election .Just like a vote for B H O will kill this country.

i sure looks like the IBT is wanting of out of that was the backbone of the union freight. there no one to blame but there selfs they let the likes of con-way fedexs saia od and others grow to what they are today. we want con-way back 83 and they said don't worry about them they never be as big as cf. if they had went after them cf might still be here today and con-way gone.

This is comical. I guess Leedham would have prevented the economy from tanking and would have fired the bean counters who run the Company and installed freight men who knew how to run it right? Wake up man.

WOW.....Stan, greed at LCP?? No way man....Me 'n' Angry are glad we got out of there. Saw in the Lancaster paper that Yellow sold a piece of property there for like $2.1 mil.....where was it? I was thinking the Freightliner dealership on the corner.....

A vote for B.H.O. may well be the last chance organized labor has at trucking through the EFCA, it could well be what saves your job, my job and somebody elses job.All it takes is for one major LTL outfit to utilize it and we are back in the game in a serious way.
I know alot of folks say Obama will get rid of the guns wrong they say he is a socialist wrong. A friend of the the working man Maybe. Let's see John McCain a friend of the working man Never. A socialist only when it helps his rich friends who are losing thier butt financially,, by the way with our money yet to be repaid. So go ahead and Talk trash about B.H.O. but it wasn't his party who brought you the bail-out it was President Bush and that was only when his rich buddies stood to become his poor buddies.. Funny I thought he & his were all about market forces, I guess that is only when the market forces an average working guy out of a job or into the street...I remember him saying no help for homeowners just last fall but this fall there will be help for bank owners, you decide but whose side is the right really on ? Sure as hack ain't the working stiff's.

Hard to believe that people think McInsane is for the woking man when he has been teamed up with the rich all along.

Didn't Obama bin Laden vote for the bail-out?
Didn't sumptin like 15-17 Demoncraps vote FOR CAFTA when their NO votes wooda killed it?
What up wit that?
Doesn't matter which of the 2 you vote for, you're just gonna be more of a slave either way after the 4th.

Oh, Plz...how did we get from "demise/future of Teamsters" to politics?

Do You think BHO is... or ever was poor man? Read his BIO on Wikipedia... Not since Jimmy Carter, the peanut farmer, folks... And if McCain was soo priviliged, then how come he was in the military in the first place, and ended up a POW ? If he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he could have been a "national guard" and fullfilled that stigma, and stayed on the home front, in his day.... Like GW Bush did...

You guys need to use yer head, sometimes... I mean the thinkin one..

Read the BIOS, guys.... ( wikipedia) then decide.... You are..what you are.... Don't just walk around on blind faith of the "meaning" of the political parties... cuz What you think, ain't what you get.... WHO IS BEST HERE TO HOLD THIS OFFICE OF PRES?

And how did this get from there to here anyway?????

I'll bet Jeff loves having you as a mod on a union site.

First, not a mod on this forum. Second, the last post was the exact information that was given to me by a person who has been laid off for over a month now at LCP and wanted the fella's to know the down low who are sitting at home too (Circle of friends) Finally, the person who wanted that up was not upset with Adam D., because he said he knew that Adam D. was just trying to stock pile some cash before he was ultimately out of a job as well...

I have to clarify a few things here. First of all the President cannot write the checks that is the job of the Congress. For those of you keeping track why then did both houses which are controlled by democrats allow the bill to pass?Actually it was the republicans that blocked the bill its first go round. I personally believe that there should not be any bailouts but thats jmho. This whole mess started back in the 70's with a guy named Jimmy Carter (Democrat) and his community redevelopment act. The act was further updated by a guy named Bill Clinton( Democrat). Bill is also the guy that signed NAFTA in law but I'm sure that that didnt cause any good American Union jobs to be lost. The crooks that ran Fannie Mae into the ground have given BHO the second largest amount of campaign money in their history( interesting since BHO was only a US Senator for about 6 months before running for President). The Democrats in congress such as Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid pressured and crimilnaized banks for not giving loans to people that had poor credit(subprime). BHO personally has even sued banks in court to make them give loans to people that clearly couldnt repay them.

Last, but certainly not least, how do you think that BHO's plan of taking the corporate tax rate from 35%(The second highest in the world by the way) to 50% will help a company such as YRCW to weather the storm. If you guys think that it wont affect you, you are dead wrong. Where to you think companies will get that money from? They will take it from the employees. You dont believe that companies will be able to pass on a 15 % rate hike in this economic environment do you ? Before you say we have a contract, they(YRCW management) will use the bankruptcy laws to void your contract. Just some food for thought concerning how BHO will take care of the working man. Ask yourself this could you survive if your income was cut 15% ??? Maybe some can but most could not. If yrcw goes bankrupt pensions will be reduce to 40 cents on the dollar through the government( a govt on the verge of bankruptcy itself) and there will be no health insurance at retirement. Think about it before you vote for BHO on Tuesday.
