Even our interline drivers wear uniforms !!!!!

They need them to offset the look of their tractors!

I've heard that women are more attracted to guys in uniform. Maybe if we started wearing uniforms and we got more flirtatious looks from women some of us might not go through life with so much bitterness. Just a thought.

That would be a huge selling point for the disgruntled.Maybe you could send those statistics to corporate.

Follow the contract when it comes to uniforms...

NMFA Article 12. Uniforms
______________________________
Before the Employer purchases uniforms, it must present a sample
of the material for the uniforms to the Union for approval. If the
sample material type is not used in the finished uniforms, the Union
employees are under no obligation to wear the uniforms. The
Union’s approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. The
Employer agrees that if any employee is required to wear any kind
of uniform as a condition of his/her continued employment, such
uniform shall be furnished and maintained by the Employer, free of
charge, at the standard required by the Employer. Said uniforms
shall be made in the United States by union vendors, if possible, and
will have the Teamster emblem appropriately applied.
The Employer shall replace all clothing, glasses, hearing aids and/or
dentures not covered by company insurance or worker’s compensa-
tion which are destroyed or damaged in a wreck or fire with com-
pany equipment.
The Employer has the right to establish and maintain reasonable
standards for wearing apparel and personal grooming.
The following provisions shall govern the wearing of shorts, unless
the Employer and Local Union has a prior existing practice:
During the period May 1, through September 30, employees shall
be allowed to wear appropriate shorts, subject to the guidelines set
forth herein. Appropriate shorts shall be defined as walking or
Bermuda style shorts with at least two (2) pockets and belt loops
and which cannot be shorter than two (2) inches above the knee,
properly hemmed at the bottom and of a conservative basic solid
color, (black, blue, brown or green). Socks and appropriate foot
wear must be worn at all times.
Short shorts, cut offs, unhemmed, athletic, gym, biking, spandex
and calf length shorts shall not be allowed.

What no Daisy Dukes!

Used to irritate me to have to strip trailers for 6 hours, get all dirty and smell like a pig, then have to run a mini-route. Then in the pre-shift would get asked if my beard was a good representation of the company. "As long as they don't get to close Boss". :fart:

Don't know why a dockworker would have to wear uniforms, being they're not in public eye. I can't see them cramming clothes under the shirt and pants to stay warm in winter time.

You might as well go all the way with this new uniform idea and go completely "old school"! I'm sure drivers would love wearing a tie and keeping the bills of those service caps shined...

"The Visor and strap of the service cap ought to be shined with black polish. Remove the
chinstrap from the cap and place it on a flat surface for polishing. Use painters or masking tape
as a shield to prevent wax from getting on the cloth of the cap while polishing the bill. Once the
service cap is prepared do not handle it by grasping the bill. Grip the cap with the index finger
over the top of the crown, with the thumb
and middle fingers astraddle the cap device. Caps
should be dust covered when stored" (THIS BRINGS BACK SOME BAD MEMORIES DOESN'T IT)?

Terminal Managers could have an "open ranks inspection" before every shift started!

I think even KK would go for this!

The new old school truck driver uniforms could create a big demand for shoe-shine people...a good job for retirees who get their pensions cut? Just set up a stand outside of each barn!

Just wondering about the extra off the dock ?
Now last time this uniform issue came up the company put lockers in the main hall.
What they going to do about a place to change uniform ?
I just can't see the lady's changing in the hall or the office girls putting up with drivers changing in the hall.
