I'm good when it comes to PDA"s. for the most part my battery dies within the first hour into my run. And it wont take a charge. but as for being followed....gotta have eyes in the back of my head. before someone comes along and tells me to just do my job, let three people see one thing. and you will get three different opinions of your actions.Times have surely changed. working more for less, mgt spying on you, waiting for you to screw up. union in name only ? not yet but getting close

Sounds as if the manager was fishing for the brother to hook himself.............. Pukes
its up to 3 men now. when one man was fired he asked what did I do and the exact quote from management was "you know what you did". and that was that. at hearing it was reduced to 3 days in the street and the last man was exonerated with no time off. ill probably be next as I loudly stated that every city driver should bid the yard or dock this time around. obviously its safer there

Don't forget 1 driver got a letter for going over 1 minute on his 30 minute break. A steward ask the TM about the drivers being fired and the TM said "it wasn't 042 that was watching" if that's true I guess they pay people at the Fort to sit and watch computer screens all day like in the movie "Casino". Maybe they'll start taking drivers in a back room and smash there hands with a hammer.:bat:

Ft. Smith is watching. I know a guy out of another terminal who they tried to fire for stealing time.He finished his lunch break and then hit departed in the PDA but sat there for another half hour. The fort called his terminal and informed them of the situation and sent a supervisor to where he was sitting and he was still there. He went from a termination to letter in his file! True story! These are real time GPS's so they can track your every move so Be careful out there and protect your jobs!

And they take a satellite picture of your PDA location when you are in violation. Might show truck, trailer etc. just don't be in violation and taking a bathroom break on the side of the road at the same time lol

1 minute over? I've spent 5 minutes getting my PDA to accept an entry more than once.

I believe this thing watches every move and live my day expecting it. Why the hell would someone punch off lunch and sit for 30 mins??

This clown who sat for an extra 30 mins after lunch deserves to be fired. Lazy POS like him are the reason we have these dam things in the first place. Im glad the Union stood up for this fine Brother and got him his job back, he deserved it....

I liked this post assuming that your third sentence was sarcastic... Only way it made sense to me. If so I completely agree...

When being disciplined they have to tell us what exactly was done and provide evidence. If they're foolish enough to not do that the men should be reinstated with back pay.
You actually think our union would represent that kind of retaliation for us?

I think that's where our concessions come back in the picture over the next 4 years. Fire all the clock suckers over the contract then get a great contract in 2018

I think maybe you missed the fact in the previous example that no one got fired. Or maybe I should say no one lost their job. Someone got fired, but the Union got their job back for them.

Every now & again it's good to get managements take on this issue....

The threats there, meaning production increases

Trust me, people like that bung hole will always manage to get their extra hour to hour and a half on the clock during the day. He just found out that he has to be more careful about it. No increase in production, just increased sneakiness...

As far as the Gps goes I had access to the system when I worked at the satellite, and yes the thing reports your location and direction about every two minutes give or take depending on the area. I think it has to be tied to the cell network because in bad reception areas of wouldn't report a location. I could tell where a driver was hooking a set vs just parked.

Great contract in 2018 or any other year in the future will not happen. There are too many New School Teamsters who do not understand how the companies work it. Nor do they save their money or live their lives in a manner that will permit them to hit a picket line. You should be thanking us Old Schoolers for what you have and worship the ground we walk on for getting it for you. Then you can sit back and watch as it all erodes away during your career as a truck driver. Our last strike in 1994 lasted for a month, a month longer than you and your buddies will ever be able to afford and it kept part time workers out of our industry up until now. But now they are here and it is just the beginning. So is letting CRST and the like haul your loads across the country. I know you didn't care about part timers but you might feel differently about CRST et al in the not too distant future. I'm sure you'll come a crying then.

On the issue of the company discharging drivers...I have never seen any indication that ABF as a company gets its kicks out of firing drivers and I would expect that they will give any one of them the chance to clean up their act. I would not count on the union to really save anyone's job though as they seem to be worried that the company will close and they'll have to rework their budgets.

I would love to hear your story on how we're going to get this great contract. I may well be one less no vote who would be replaced by one more yes vote in time for the next excuse for negotiations.
