XPO | E-logs

XCN is 4:30 but very few loads are there that late and fac is still going normally at 0600

And guys with an hour drive back to their barns are racing out while guys with several hours to go are waiting in a circle for a trailer to arrive.

Once again, as having been said, it is best practice to let the break clock go until 31 minutes, 29 minutes and 59 seconds will not count. Remember that you are on a Electronic device where as it counts seconds also . It will count exactly down to the second from when you log off duty. Example is if yo log off at 1:05 pm and the actual time is 1:05 and 20 seconds your full break will not count unless you wait until 1:35 and 20 seconds. It is easier to wait until that extra minute goes by to make sure that the break is locked in. If not, plan on taking another 31 minute break and eventually you'll learn not to log back on duty at 30 minutes

Well, if they're gonna bust our onions for seconds, they should at least re-program the EDL's to actually SHOW the seconds. Are they telling us that a driver is LESS rested at 29:59 than he would be at 30:00? This kind of crap irks me beyond belief.

no we just have a Wal-Mart special e-log system. I pretty sure this system was out of date when it was installed. I have not see a system since the late 90's that had a control box, you know the one behind the passenger seat. The systems out today have one wire that plugs into the ECM port and the display unit on the dash and that's it.
It's gotton that you can plug a Bluetooth device into the ECM port and run a app on you smart phone.

It says you cannot tell from the EOBR if it has been 30 minutes or not. Proof again that the desk jockeys don't know ::shit::. If you are taking your lunch in the truck on the EOBR. There is a small yellow triangle in the top right hand corner of the screen that comes off after 30 minutes is up. Also if you go back to the status screen the bottom line shows time remaining on your lunch and will do a count down. Open your eyes people. It's right there in front of you.

Yup, them too!

And I'm not saying you are going to eliminate bad weather or break downs or accidents or whatever. There are going to be some late arrivals sometimes. But when you have the same problems for years and years. And it's the same places. And it's ruining the FACs they run into and impacting the inbound ops of all the terminals that run into those FACs. The multiplicative negative effect of these trouble makers is extremely detrimental to the bottom line on a very large scale, very quickly.

Also the bottom line will show your current hours available, after your 30 minutes is up it updates your current hours available....

The morons that trained us on it told us we had to completely log out for lunch/break. It didn't take us long to figure out that you just go off duty, and like you said, the 30 minute break counts down for you. The trainers were trained wrong in Ann Arbor of all places. Imagine that.

It's the reason places like this site exist. Really, we end up figuring stuff out on our own, and then share the results. The trainers just got the ball rolling. Showed us how to get logged in and out of the thing.

Can't wait for the alleged avalanche of freight from the country wide mandate that this E-log mess is supposed to be bringing. And over all. I very much enjoy not doing paper logs.
