Not being a former FXNL driver.......would that be an old Watkins tractor or a newer model purchased after FedEx acquired Watkins?
I believe they were post buy-out.

Probably wouldn't have done much good in this case, everything was destroyed. Is it time to go the "Conway's" way and put cameras in all Fedex trucks? I really hope it doesn't come to that :/
It is possible that if the said tractor struck the car first that the impact ripped open the fuel tank and dumped fuel onto the muffler which might explain the fire also.
Diesel fuel won't ignite spraying on a hot muffler that easily. It doesn't have as low of a flash point as gasoline.
Don't try this but I have heard you can put lit cigarettes out in a cup of diesel fuel.. Again... Don't anyone try this

It isn't a bad idea to get your own dash cam though, just got 1 myself, since I recently had a 4-wheeler hit me and run
You can...I tried it...accidentlyDon't try this but I have heard you can put lit cigarettes out in a cup of diesel fuel.. Again... Don't anyone try this
The last I heard it is against policy to have non company video equipment in a FXF vehicle.

No, had one in my mouth and it fell out into a 5gal bucket with about 3gals of diesel in it, from draining a farm tractor tankWhile fueling your tractor?
And now we're left to read your mind.
The 2007 was the first year Volvo sold tractors equipped with the computer override tractor braking system now DOT mandated on all semis'. I totaled one under similar conditions a couple years ago.
While I do not always see eye to eye with you hit the nail squarely on the head, It's sad that this happened and all the number posting and bragging about how safe fx is not going to change a thing. IMo it sounds like everybody is making excuses for what happened , it's an accident they happen no matter how much training or how many safety meetings you are required to attended they happen .FedEx does have a reputation and it was earned. Granted, there are a ton of trucks and drivers out there, but there are still quite a few that can drive for ****. That statement in no way reflects on the CA accident. I am just going off what I have observed while working at FedEx and after.
The company is partly to blame for this. They put green horns behind the wheel that have little or no respect for the equipment and the carnage it can cause. They also foster an attitude of hurry, hurry, hurry. Gotta' hit the numbers, gotta' make the gate. Someone new in the industry can't separate the bull**** and just do it right and safe.
Remember, every action you make is a reflection on you, your company and the industry.
