in the 682 case, this is 1st hand, ok. the 2 drivers were talking about a 4 wheeler that held one of them uot and he couldn't get back over. other traffic was building behind. one driver told the other to swerve the rear trl at the 4 wheeler and scare them into backing out of it..... cliff w., safety man heard this said, watched all unfold. stopped and talked to the drivers on the shoulder. he sent them on their way. for whatever reason, after the tour was completed they were fired. at the committee hearing some months later one driver had been re-instated. the committee was going to give the other his job back, (no back pay). the driver was asked if he had anything to say . he began by stating his c.b. handle was psycho, or wild man or whatever, and that he had a reputation to uphold. this drew laughter from everyone in the room. At that point the driver must have thought it was amateur night at the improv. he did not realize they were laughing AT him, not WITH him. the comittee upheld the discharge.
MORAL: It is better to say nothing, and
others wonder if you're dumb,
than to open your mouth and
remove all doubt.
