I don't know if it belongs in Yellow but I'm sure I can tie something in it to Obriens behavior after I read it later. Wanted to post before I forget. Feel free to have at it. I'll get to it later.
I am definitely not a union hater. But I read stories and see how stuff ties together...and look for things that tie things together.
Things are not always as they appear on the surface.
Big money only wants the surface to be learned repetitively.

Wow, excellent read! :1036316054:

That's why I say private sector unions need to distance themselves from the public sector unions. The contempt knowledgeable taxpayers have for public sector unions does not differentiate.

First we had boom and bust cycles. So regulation was created to reduce volatility in the market for business. Then regulation was done away with. So naturally, the boom and bust cycles will return. The Transportation industry relies on the consent of the workers. And today workers are saying "no". The money is not there for what is required. Some say The Teamsters model is outdated. In 1 regard I agree, that The Teamster must not ever be tied in any way to the company, only The Union. And should have the Liberty to shift to other Union docks, while keeping all their benefits and seniority. This fatal flaw in The Teamsters model became self evident with Yellow, as they were trapped. I would also say The IBT does a poor job of training local hall presidents and stewards. I have seen this with my own eyes. It is vital to have a good steward on the dock with a clear objective. But some go on a power trip, using their seat to manipulate things to their advantage. And hall presidents giving concessions with no benefit to Teamsters. Things need to change, and will. Because the market always self corrects.

Good read.
I have been saying stuff like this on here for a while.
America's unions are closely connected with the Communist USA Party. Also the anti US Socialists
They throw $$$$ (in 2020 unions have democrats more than 1.6BILLION) only for union members to be screwed by the very same government with Open Borders, pathetic trade agreements, inflation, the Green New Deal, ending pipeline construction jobs, forcing Railroad Unions to accept a contract, unlimited tax free imports.......
Yet union members sit silent as their $$$$ goes off to destroy America...

After 25 years of seein the dirty horseshit that goes on in this business I’ll never be convinced a union dont have a place... IF they stick to what they do best which is to keep management honest

Where they go wrong IMHO is trying to kill the golden goose by doin ::shit:: like demanding the guy who does nothing but push a broom all day get paid $30 an hour

It depends how well he pushes that broom. If he isn't worth a hoot, then I agree. But...we had at my YRC terminal a facilities guy who was awesome! He had been there for decades. Yes, he pushed the broom. He also welded the dock plates, set up the computers, fixed just about everything that needed fixing, shoveled snow.

Nah he’s a different animal then what I’m talkin bout and he’d be worth it

The ones I’m thinkin of have zero interest or capability of doin anything else

"that there is no longer any significant functional difference between “leftist” state ownership and “right-wing” ownership by monopoly corporations"

While both sides of the same coin sells freedom to voters, we have become a slightly different version of the Soviet Union.

Public sector unions should be illegal. Politicians negotiate with their donors. Absolutely a scam and grift.
Have to disagree to a point. Don’t think my son needed to be a union accountant for the city. However, the 30k+ members of the NYPD need representation especially with the left’s negativity for law enforcement. And don’t discount firefighters, putting their life on the line. I hope their leadership is more competent than many TMs or Ops mgrs I run into, but you never know whose nephew got the promotion.

Absolutely correct!
Unions were created to ensure that the shop floor employee shared in the profits. There is no profit in government. Government gets their money by confiscating it from taxpayers.
Slow down there blade....I know this guy who says, "Employees don't share in profits, if you want a cut of profits, buy stock.". Who in the world says that????🤔🤔🤔

Not exactly. I believe I said, why is your labor worth more simply because your employer made a profit. We no longer have child labor, sweat shops and 20-hour workdays of the 1930s. The labor movement of 100 years ago brought about 40-hour workweek, paid time off, OSHA, the NLRB and a fair days pay as determined by the labor market. What the unions were founded for has come to pass. Labor unions have outlived their usefulness. Not only because government standards now protect workers but mostly because, unlike the 1930s, we are now living in a global economy with global competition.
Look at the history. In the 50s and well into the 60s, the only industrial nation on the planet was the United States. World War 2 destroyed the European and Asian economies, and it took decades before those countries were able to export and become world trading partners. The big three built cars with what they openly called planned obsolescence. They were built to last 3-5 years. Not until the early 70s did foreign competition force them to build quality cars at reasonable prices.

Lets see....labor unions aren't needed in trucking....nothing to protect you from 70 hours a week......no overtime since you are exempt from FLSA.....look at truckload and I guarantee that without unions LTL will look the same within 20 years of unions being gone.....We do have sweatshops...it is called truckload...

There is no slave labor anymore. Something keeps those TL drivers in those trucks.
Look around, the LTL unions are gone. Fewer than 20,000 of you at ABF and TForce. If there was a "need", the non union drivers would be surrounding the locals begging for representation.
