Yellow | How Unions Have Betrayed America

You are sick if you actually believe any Teamster likes to see any other truckers lose their job... Teamster or not!!! It's people like you who like to use a tragedy like this to spread your anti-union rhetoric. It's the sick people like you out there who will never realize that the Teamsters aren't your enemy because of your inability to see the forest for the trees.
Yes Docker, just think of the mentality and mindset of someone who literally believes that!!!!!...Scary...My theory...Stockholm Syndrome...These corporate trolls have been so brainwashed and abused by corporate America, that they now 'identify' with it's interests....

How many times do I have write that socialist unions are the balance to corporate capitalism. It's the unions that forced law makers to establish 40 hour work weeks. OSHA and the NLRB are products of the labor movement. Prohibitions against child labor and paid time off are products of the labor movement. The focus now should be on a national healthcare system that guarantees quality care to every American not just those with great insurance. The more successful the unions are at real change, the less relevant they become. The problem is that unions, like the IBT, have become big business.
Actually, this is a very succinct, crisp, and intelligent post Blade, thoughtful with some interesting points...''quality care to every American''...Now that would be a blessing, would it not?...You say 'less' relevant,I say 'more' relevant, but I digress...

In that same frame of mind, let's talk 'Markets'...Markets only work as a social institution when they are NOT the dominant social institution as they are here in the U.S....The Social Democracies show us that markets have a place but that place is limited, with entire sections of their societies devoted to purposes beyond simple 'Capital' and 'money accumulation'...Healthy societies have markets that function on an equal basis with the 'other' important aspects of life, education, travel, community and family togetherness, health and welfare promotion, religious activities,multi-generational infrastructure projects,etc....Now that would also be a ''Blessing'',would it not?...Making America work for ALL Americans!!!!

The 'social democracies' live off of the back of capitalism.
Because of the lack of profits very little innovation comes out of these countries. The most recent advances such as Facebook, Apple etc all came from capitalism not the stagnant economies.
Their 'free healthcare' is maintained by a 20 -24% VAT Tax on every item & service except rent, financial exchanges and healthcare (I thought it was free)
Meaning the poor pay for their healthcare, waits for non emergency surgeries for example in the UK are up to 5 years for a Knee Replacement, mediocre care at best and citizens are forced to purchase supplemental healthcare insurance to avoid outrageous waits to see a doctor or healthcare professional.

The following 10 countries have been assessed as providing the best healthcare for their population.
  1. Japan
  2. Singapore
  3. South Korea
  4. Norway
  5. Taiwan
  6. Israel
  7. China
  8. Iceland
  9. Netherlands
  10. Sweden
Did you see the United States on the top 10 list?
Even China is ahead of us.
BUT, never fear, we are number one in cost per capita even though we have 30% uninsured.

It sounds like you would prefer central planning. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. Markets work best when government gets out of the way. Economies are and should be consumer driven. People's spending should dictate how economies work. BTW: economies are not social institutions.

BY who?
If you think healthcare in China is better than in the US you will believe anything. Unless you consider organ harvesting healthcare??
I will agree healthcare in the US is expensive but overall it is very good
Funny at the hospital I go to in NYC there are people from every one of the 10 nations you list getting treated???
I wonder why?

Why? Because if you are wealthy, you will get the best care money can buy in America. Just ask the recently displaced Yellow employees about healthcare. Premium costs shared with the employer, deductibles, co pays for everything.
