Hmm I remember when I was with Overnite,UPS was attempting to blend us with their Diad computer system.
I had just become a UPS Safety Trainer, believe me it was not my idea, however I wasn't given any choice to keep my job.
All of us city drivers had to go through the training to use them.
I told my Terminal Manager there is no way I'm going to look at that thing while I'm driving.
It is just plan unsafe & besides I think it is not legal.
I couldn't believe what he told us all. after my bold statement.
Oh well he said UPS is exempt from that law,so if you hear the ping alert we had better answer it no matter what we were doing.
I never checked to find out if UPS had that exemption.
I just doubted they where.
Now that I'm retired I don't miss anything about UPS,if we stayed Overnite I may have worked a while longer.
But getting back on topic,if you take your eyes off your driving for any reason,at any speed, the reaction time is greatly reduced.
The faster you go the less time you have to react, once you look back at the direction of travel.
So if you really need to look away,it is always best to find a safe place to pull over & do what you have to do.
Best advice I can offer here is to have a safe trip, keep your eyes on the road.
