Last night the road drivers in many Northeast Terminals were told they have to work tonight because the system is all backed up from the storm on Tuesday. Meanwhile some had volunteer list up all week long. Then on friday night it was down and told mandatory work. If your bid is HGR or NHS you have to go,all others that don't go there can stay home. We will call you at 3pm to let you know.
I have a problem with this, my bid is a signed legal document that says Monday through Friday. If I have to wait for a call at home then I am working and should be compensated. Also the first ones that should go is the xtra board drivers and when that's depleted then you go to the bottom city guys because the road drivers must protect there bid. Now how is that right that guys used there personal or vacation time for Monday and Tuesday and now you tell them they have to work Saturday and they just wasted there vacation time. You can't tell me the company didn't know this was going to happen on Wednesday.
If anyone had a brain in planning they would have had terminals and hubs building trap trailers with the freight that was weather coded. It's already late concentrate on What needs to be delivered now and free up the docks and pups. That is why alot of places have no empties they are full with freight. Then have the office personel make phone calls to the customers to see what we can get off of our docks for Saturday delivery and bring in city drivers.
