The unbelievably stupid part is that the only reason it took this long is because the Liberals on Parliament Hill wanted to enshrine the Modern Feminist Agenda in the treaty. The US and Mexico said "that's got no business here, come back when you're ready to talk trade".

There were theories that they were trying to postpone it until the Canadian elections so they could vilify conservatives as "just like Donald Trump".
And we thought that "theatrical" orchestrated nonsense was a strictly U.S. thing... Luckily, not everyone is as gullible as they think.

Platooning Tries to Move Past a Work in Progress

"Tests using combinations of the latest aerodynamic tractors and trailers showed the gains in miles per gallon were “not as high as expected..."

"...platooning might not be the holy grail we initially thought."

"In the meantime, if it makes sense to platoon two trucks over a long distance, it also might make sense to run double or triple trailers pulled by a single truck over a long distance — an option blocked in many areas by regulations, another consultant said."

UPS Contracts Rejected, Union and Company to Return to the Table

In tonight's vote count, members rejected the controversial tentative agreements covering 260,000 workers at the package giant UPS and 12,000 at UPS Freight.”

“Concessions in the deals had sparked widespread anger and a vote-no movement. However, the company and union officials were both been campaigning hard for a yes.”

“Out of 92,604 eligible votes cast at UPS, the final tally was 46 percent yes, 54 percent no. At UPS Freight, with a turnout of 66 percent, the contract was rejected 38 percent yes to 62 percent no.“

But that doesn't mean CEO John Smith isn't still fully invested in the pipe dream!

A big push in driver's smart cruise usage is on the way - just in time for winter.

Because, if we can only be programmed to relinquish control to these gizmos, we'll be more accepting of the next phase of automation.

But hey leadership - if you want us to embrace it quickly, do what XPO did and increase the speed with the cruise set. I'll sell out for 68mph. Total compliance!

UPS Parcel voted no, but it still passed due to low turnout.

"And as we saw in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, winning the popular vote does not necessarily win the election when the Constitution requires you to win the Electoral College vote. As Teamsters, we too must abide by the rules in our Constitution. Thus, the National Master UPS Agreement has been ratified."

UPS Freight will be the ones negotiating...

Kavanaugh tweets Big Dave! Thanks him for his testimony to support his whereabouts on the night in question. BD could not be reached for comment. His office at Coop Dispatch would only say that he was not available for comment and was reportedly in California with Kim,and Khloé helping them try to convince 35 year old Scott Diick, that he should not be taking pictures of 20 year old, Sofia Richie in hotel rooms, and focus his wide angle lense on Kim’s oversized backfield.

Los Angeles, Ca (AP) TMZ releases newly discovered video of Scott Disick along with Big Dave, Kavanaugh, Ye (aka Kanye), and Wong after news breaks that Disick can’t keep his camera to himself!! It was reported earlier that Big Dave and the gang allegedly went whip Disick into shape over his actions but after Kavanaugh broke out some brewskis, the five of them went back to the 80’s!! After repeated attempts, no one would comment on this issue but Kim and Chloe could be heard complaining about missing flower pots!!??!!

Disclaimer: no women were groped during their time together but sources say Ye was admiring Dave’s hat.

We are watching the death of Tesla in real time right now. Elon Musk is literally the glue that holds Tesla together and the fuel that keeps it running. Without his leadership, it'll fall apart. Tesla isn't big enough to be run by a board of directors successfully.

I'm not going to pretend to have a firm grasp of Tesla's business model, but from what I've seen the only real value that Musk has brought to that company beyond startup capital has been his ability to use the U.S. government to funnel money to Tesla through tax and carbon credits. It wouldn't surprise me if the company couldn't possibly have made it this far without that type of crony capitalism.

Otherwise as an investor I would be furious at Musk for his conduct and apparent lack of concern he has for the impact it has had on the stability and market cap of his company - something plenty of average joes are probably banking on to some degree for a ROI that will help them retire at a reasonable age or get their kids through college.

Heavy-Duty Truck Orders Hit Highest 9-Month Total in 20 Years

https://www.trucks.com/2018/10/04/heavy-duty-truck-orders-highest-total-20-years/

"Surging freight demand, higher shipping rates and a lack of trucks to haul goods has led trucking fleets and dealers to order earlier than usual. The nation’s low unemployment has made it harder to recruit new drivers to haul the cargo, while a shortage of diesel mechanics to fix broken trucks has hurt fleet productivity."

EROAD analysis shows driver HOS violations are increasing

https://www.ccjdigital.com/eroad-an...a3c973&utm_term=newsletter-2-daily-position-2

"The analysis found the 30-minute rest break is the most common violation, followed by 14-hour duty limit, 11-hour driving limit, and on-duty limit.

The proportion of violations by type has remained fairly consistent since the mandate was introduced. The average time spent in violation is reducing over time, but the number of violations per driver is increasing for the 11-hour driving limit and 14-hour duty limit."

What I find most troubling, is the need to push the 11 and/or 14 hour rules, just to get the job done. Often, for some, this is the rule rather than the exception.

FMCSA broadens interpretation of ‘driver’ to more autonomous friendly definition

https://www.ccjdigital.com/fmcsa-br...3c973&utm_term=newsletter-2-daily-position-3#

Preparing for the Future of Transportation: Automated Vehicles 3.0 (AV 3.0):

AV 3.0 states, “In general, subject to the development and deployment of safe [Automated Driving System (ADS)] technologies, [FMCSA] policy is that going forward FMCSA regulations will no longer assume that the [commercial motor vehicle] driver is always a human or that a human is necessarily present onboard a commercial vehicle during its operation.”

Truck driving on Ohio bike path hits multiple bridges, gets stuck: police

"A "confused" truck driver was cited after driving on a bike path in Ohio -- and learning the hard way that the big rig was too big to fit under multiple bridges last week, police said."

Coop? Again? REALLY???:scratchhead:
Actually, it was revealed in a police report later that day that the truck was operated by a Moldavian owned company, CuuP Deespach, not affiliated with the Cedar Rapids, Iowa firm, Coop Dispatch LLC....

“The nations low unemployment rate has made it harder to recruit new drivers to haul the cargo”. Let’s look at it realistically, and point out that many companies still will not just pay a driver, with a good MVR, wages and benefits fitting the demands of a job that puts them under constant physical, mental, and regulatory pressure to perform the everyday duties needed to complete their daily routine...

Wonder how much money, hearings, meetings, e-mails, conference calls, and paperwork it was to have the FMCSA arrive at this conclusion, and issue their final ruling on what is actually behind the wheel, or monitoring the vehicle’s movement???
