Came through "spaghetti junction", aka "malfunction junction", this morning around 11:30ish and again this afternoon around 2:30-2:45ish and what a cluster!!!!! I've never seen so many people in one location that CAN'T DRIVE...and it's EVERYDAY!!!
ATL could seriously use an outer loop around the outer loop but we all know that'll never happen....unless Trump makes it one of his infrastructure priorities after he builds the wall!!

I didn't see I-85 through Greenville, SC at 5:00 rush hour on the list but it sure should've been on there!!

I did notice that almost every major interchange in ATL made the list...sad!!!

Yeah, I noticed that. At least construction is under way, although it may be too little to late. Oh, there is an official website too:

"Finally, construction of ten new bridge structures which include two flyovers, rehabilitation of two existing bridge structures, and modifications to the substructure of one existing bridge will occur to facilitate this new interchange system. The work being performed on these roads and bridges will help alleviate traffic congestion throughout this entire corridor. Construction began in February of 2016 and will continue until 2020."

Hmmm....wonder why the choice for "flyovers" instead of a "turbine" interchange?? I think they'll regret that decision once the first snow/ice storm hits!!

“The fourth quarter capped a very challenging 2016, as rising fuel prices and a weak used truck market compounded the negative impact of the pricing and freight volume headwinds prevalent within the market,” the company wrote in a letter to investors. “Our results for the fourth quarter were further impacted by higher-than-expected insurance and claims expense related to development on certain prior and current year claims.”

And I wonder if hiring people who lack driving experience, and the compensation and benefits they pay, has anything to do with their insurance expense related to certain prior and current claims??? That probably wasn't covered in their earnings release....

And, in news that surprised no one...

These big TL carriers just don't seem to understand why they're struggling to make money. They hire the poorly trained, offer them no training improvement, pay them nothing, and put them on the road for weeks at a time.

Part of the problem is that younger drivers today grew up in a system that convinced them going to school teaches you everything you need to know. They get out into the real world and discover that just isn't true, usually the hard way.

Case in point: Adulting Classes. These exist so millennials can pay to learn how to deal with what real life demands of them because they didn't learn it before (for various reasons) and find themselves lacking the knowledge to perform basic tasks like finding a job, paying bills, cooking for themselves and so on.

That's because most millennials here in the states were taught that the Govt would provide everything for them, thus they have no desire to seek for those things themselves!!

“Our main objective is to establish this region as the beachhead or the jumping-off point for them to come into the U.S. and connect their market to ours,” Thorpe said. “Kelly mentioned Amazon. There’s also [the China-based] Alibaba [an e-commerce company] and others in China looking to do the same thing with e-commerce, so what we want to do is benefit from the bidirectional opportunities that we’re going to see in the next few years.”
