red trucks with a black "STX" logo? I think they used to have a small barn in buffalo off woodward, as well. good news for you guys, reguardless. land air express makes new penn look like working for ups parcel.

If they manage to pull through this I wonder in NY and Massachusetts will revoke their tandems permits.

They had been hitting New Penn pretty hard giving customers a very low pallet rate. Had a sales man tell me he didn't understand how they could even move freight so cheap.

Maybe some carriers (not saying any names ). should take notice that the DOT will take action if you insist on running old, outdated, equipment that is not up to their safety standards.

if they cant run tandems, they will fail, its the only way they can price so cheap. although this seems like a full blown company failure as we speak.

At least with those 53's you won't be delivering to sales personnel at mini storage units. But wouldn't you rather have a twin screw to pull it with?

If a driver (not saying any names) doesn't write it up and refuse to drive it it's their own fault.

it looks like you are going to be able to get some heavy loads, you know, all that freight that land air express hasn't been able to move with pickup trucks and vans.

Your partly right but A driver can only write up what he sees and finds. And a mechanic can only fix those things. There is no way for a driver to foresee what's going to break on older or newer equipment but chances are 15 year old trucks with a million and half miles are going to have problems that a driver doesn't detect in his pretrip. SAFTEY is about prevention.
