My gosh, here is train missing the point (again). This is a numbers game.
The numbers show that Saia is losing drivers at a rate higher than other LTL carriers. They also show that Saia is having to toss out $15000 sign on bonuses in order to attract drivers. And even then, having difficulty filling positions. It's the company culture that Saia has cultivated over the years that has put the company in this position. So now, they hate having to amend their policies and procedures only to play defense and hope that the driver exodus slows. They are (finally) having an epiphany of sorts in discovering that, if you treat people right, they will stay. What a concept!
And train, I'll say it again...don't get personal.
