Just took a look at the new bids for the following week. We have to bid on it by Friday to start it on Monday.
There are 14, 8 hour bids 5 days a week. There are also 15, 4/10 hour bids. Terminal manager said if they only have work for 25 routes that day, they will be cutting the last 4 on the 8 hour bids in order for all the 4/10 bids to work.
Lets say the guy on the 5/8 bid has 5 years with the company and the other guy on the 4/10 bid was a dock worker who just became a city driver, he will not be cut but the one with more seniority will because he took the 5/8 bid. That does not sound right...
Confused and everyone is not sure what bid to take...we all need to work but it seems like if you want to work the 5 days you might pay of the price of not working every day and be on call to drive the line at night which probably will not happen but your day is wasted. You don't know whether to sleep or not.
What a way to run a terminal....and all this started with a new TM.....makes you wonder if they really know what they are doing with the schedule...are all the terminals doing the same thing?
