More On Verizon!
Dear John,
Despite $6 billion in profits this year, Verizon is slashing benefits – and refusing to negotiate in good faith with employees.
45,000 workers are striking in protest.
Will you stand with them? Tell Verizon to bargain seriously with their workers.
One billion dollars. That's how much much telecommunications giant Verizon is trying to squeeze from its workers by making deep cuts to their health plans and their pensions.
But instead of coming to the bargaining table for a fair discussion, Verizon has refused to negotiate seriously over their outrageous demands.1
You may have seen it in the news: After Verizon repeatedly failed to show up to bargaining sessions with their unions, 45,000 workers went on strike.
They're out picketing right now – Can you stand with them by urging Verizon to negotiate with its workers? Write Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam NOW.
At the outset of bargaining, Verizon immediately asked for cuts that would average $20,000 per family. That's a devastating amount to households just trying to pay their bills, but it's even more shameful because the unions report Verizon has raked in $6 billion in annualized profits this year.
And who benefits? Not the workers who made the profits possible, but Verizon executives. In fact, in the past four years alone, the company has compensated its top five executives more than a quarter of a billion dollars.
During a time when most families are struggling to make ends meet, Verizon is looking at billions of profits... and still greedily trying to take every last dollar they can.
Write to Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam: Tell him to stop putting profits above people.
Verizon management has repeatedly canceled scheduled bargaining sessions. We have to let Verizon know that this is the kind of behavior that the public simply won't stand for.
The 45,000 workers who are bravely sticking their necks out need us to back them up. Whether you're a Verizon customer or a committed workers' rights supporter, your voice matters. It's critical that the company hears that consumers are outraged by their unreasonable demands and refusal to negotiate in good faith.
Tell Verizon to negotiate fairly and stop destroying middle class jobs.
Thanks so much for standing in solidarity today. I know it means a lot to the Verizon workers on the picket lines right now.
