Was walking through the yard tonight and saw one of our pretty, new containers. Took a closer look and found all four corners of the chassis were unlocked. Unfreaking believable.
    Yes, I locked it down.

Using the facilities. Some of us stand, the rest of you squat, or ought to.

If you want a real eye opener, just park out of the way in the yard some morning, and observe as many other drivers as you can hooking up,and leaving to see how many even check their trailer lights and tires....

See it all the time. Old drivers do a real pretrip, thump tires, look at wheel seals and brake shoes, apply the air and look for leaks....old school stuff.
New guys hookup the lines, crank up the gear, exercise the :shit: out of the brake pedal and go.

You tend to do a better pre trip if you have to do your own repairs.

True that, but the youngsters just don't seem to get the importance or care.

The other day I asked a 40 year driver what color' s the engine in his r18xxx. He didn't know and said he doesn't care. He's never tilted the hood in the year he's had the tractor. So professional there at Disneyland.

Friday morning out of the two trailers I hooked to, 5 of the 8 tires needed to be replaced. Clearly out of service defects.

Working at a hub, it's a real site to watch the shuttle guys come in every night...most don't own a flashlight and most don't make it past the landing gear on the rear box when dropping or hooking!! And I love to watch the guys that kick the sidewalls with their toes...like they can tell with their toes that a tire only has 65psi which is considered a flat!!

We've had a run of pups come through CLT where the suspension bushings were completing gone...just wore slap out!! The whole axle has shifted to one side and the air bags are rubbing which is sure to eventually rub a hole. What's even more disturbing is when you pull the history on the trailer and you see just how many drivers have pulled the trailer with the bushings gone OR you see that the trailer has been recently PM'd and the bushings weren't replaced!!

Pic 1) Look just below the airbag where the suspension arm connects to the axle...the bushing is completely gone!!

Pic 2) Here's a shot of what the airbag looks like when the bushing is worn out or gone...

How many of you guys have also found these bushings to be worm out??
