There is lieing on both sides of the fence. If YOU still are confused do the math because (the numbers don't lie!) Compare the cost just in healthcare.

And the healthcare is in the shape its in because of Obama, and of course he's backed by the teamsters.
I still haven't found the section of the ACA that says employers can't boost other forms of compensation to offset what they now can't provide in healthcare to not incur a "Cadillac" plan tax. Feel free to blame whoever you want but the fact is, we have taken a large cut in compensation.
So a labor union is suppose to back pro business candidates now?
No the ACA set guidelines for the employers to follow and mandate.. It wasn't the employers that wanted this montage of disaster... They wanted to be able to shop for "compensation packages" to advance coverage and stay competitive on price.. ACA done nothing but give the insurance companies the right to form a "monopoly" on healthcare premiums.. That's why the Teamsters asked for an exemption from the ACA.. Not only was the American people lied to, the unions were too...
The ACA guidelines allows them to "discount" the coverage and reduce compensation packages to almost nothing... In other words, the Feds gave them the right to say "Look, we are complying to Federal mandates and this is what the mandate requires"... It requires them to provide healthcare, it doesn't say a word about the "quality" of the healthcare plan... You can either "pay" for a Cadillac Plan or you can reduce your coverage and follow the Federal Mandate on what they told the employers adhere to in the future..
This ACA is nothing more than a "WalMart" or "Dollar General" healthcare plan.. The people, before ACA occurred, had better healthcare with no insurance at all... This is what get's my goat, there should be no mandate at all.. Mandates do nothing but allow the insurer to reduce coverage and discount the quality of life, but charge a higher premium.... They were told this happen if it were mandated, that premiums would NOT go down they would inflate... There's your "Cadillac Plan".. Se, that's the thing, this ACA gives them the right NOT to shop or add Cadillac plans to there offers, because it's not in the bill..
The only "problem" with your theory is the fact that insurance companies are highly regulated. Their profit margins are limited, by law. So, in fact, no windfall can occur. Now IMHO, the goal with the ACA, is to force insurance companies out of the insurance business, by mandating coverage that makes it unattractive and not cost effective in the market, thereby sending consumers into the government plans. The ultimate goal, as publicly stated by proponents, is a single payer (Government) system. What we have now is just the method, to that end.

Swampratt, you nailed it. What I want is for there to be no "profits driven" middle man between my health care expenditures and my Doctor. And the Obama hatred is pure comedy gold. For all the naysayers on the ACA, what are your proposals for making sure every American has health care? The people who rail away at it never seem to even acknowledge that there were millions of Americans going without health care. The ACA is an attempted solution. It is largely a conservative copy/paste of what the Heritage Foundation was putting forth as a proposal during the aborted Clinton Health Initiative in 1994.

It also causes this...Remember back when being full time was considered working 32 or more hours per week consistently for 6 weeks? Well, Obama said "Ok, if your gonna do that, we'll lower it to 29 hours a week for 6 weeks".. What did the employers do, dropped their full timers down to 29 hours a week.. See, it's a Chess game and Obama can't do anything about it.. He started this snowball headed for hell situation, when all he had to do was let the employers and individuals shop for their own plans... Let the insurance companies maneuver across state lines and you wouldn't have this expensive POS insurance plans we have now..
But... You knew there'd be a but...
Your rate went up to cover the cost of insuring the un-insurable.
Without mandates, a person could buy insurance that suits their personal need. Some don't need or want coverage for pregnancy related costs, drug addiction rehab, 26 year old "children" etc, etc, etc. The list could go on...
Insurance companies, simply don't have free reign. If they do, people need to pay attention to State insurance Commissioners and the regulating entities. Rates are only allowed to go up when losses offset premiums and justify an increase.
I do remember what you speak of. I lived there, In La. and my wife was in and still is in the insurance industry. And, I might add, customer service from the corp. level, at her company, has declined at the same alarming rate as the LTL industry (and Corp. America, in general). Just barely good enough and in some cases, not quite good enough.

Since the law has been in affect, BCBS named each policy for the state in which they operated.. Same policy, just the name has been changed to protect the law... Headquarters can answer your questions, but file on it, "You'll have to go to your local claim office,sir".... So no, it's not been enacted to travel across state lines, legally... Some are in India, that's a pretty far off state line there..LOLPretty amazing that the "socialist" President is so very pliable for the business community. The selling insurance across state lines thing....that was going to solve what? If you dig into that a little you'd discover it was only a proposal to make it easier for insurers to find a more regulation free business climate. A trojan horse proposal at best. And furthermore, I live in PA and just the other day I called my insurer about a medical bill....and the girl I spoke with was at an office complex in Atlanta, GA. So...it seems to me there already exists across state line insurance selling going on. Especially if you're insured through a large employer.
