We were given that option 2 years ago.

It doesn't roll the pension. If you had a pension account and chose the 401k match you still have your pension account and it's still accumulating interest, they're just not contributing to it. It wasn't rolled into the 401k.

I was under the impression that the money in the pension was put toward your 401K fund. I was wrong.

Yes, you can cash out when you quit and put that money toward your 401.

I stayed in even though the gains could be much better with the high contribution match. Everyone has their reasons. There’s pros and cons to doing either.
Funny fact: the money that did go to funding the pension, from the beginning, came from money that once went into 401k.
Was never new (additional) funding, but provided bragging rights to tout FedEx having a pension AND 401k.

That's all this company does! From backing in trailers from relays that are heavy to put 1 skid on to claim the weight. Or using good Friday to holiday code freight so they can leave it sitting. Finally using the PLANdemic to cancel FXF1000 tariff so they don't have to give refunds when freight doesn't make service. I'm sure there's more.
Xpo does the exact same thing. Shell game. I’m sure other carriers do too.
