Yellow | Why isn't bankruptcy an option?

Im out of a job anyways because the union agreed to change the active / inactive clause in our NMFA contract but not classification seniority....so I simply will not vote on the concessions....Good luck to all !!

This concession will pass OVERWHELMINGLY! All you have to do is go out in the parking lot and see all the new cars and trucks, listen to people talk about their boats and Harleys, etc... Our brothers and sisters are in the same position as this and many other companies, local municipalities, and the majority of housholds in this great country. WE are strapped to the hilt with DEBT. We run our mouths about not taking any s--t from the company, yet we have put ourselves in the position to take nothing but that. We face the same crisis as YRCW and they know it!

sir you are right on with that. that is the best post i have seen on these boards yet( except that which comes from my own brilliant mind of course) j/k Thank you for being realistic and not just going with hopes, dreams and feelings like alot of others here.

DEBT=SLAVERY

to you, and all the countless other ignorant idiots on these boards......
So let me get this straight. Everyone who doesn't think or reason as you do is an idiot? We are not entitled to our own opinions, based on the information presented to us? We should just quit if we dont feel we should have to give back, due to the constant mismanagement, or any number of other reasons? I'm entitled to my vote, and I'll vote as I see fit, not as others tell me I have to.

Why isn't bankruptcy an option to restructure, while keeping creditors at bay? Please don't tell me it will ruin our brand image, thats nonsense. Some that have include United Airlines, Chrysler, Lehman Brothers, Trump Casino, Washington Mutual, JB Hunt, Tribune Co., and the list goes on. If they truely have a plan that will work, they will come out of it. At the very least, it would buy them some time. I thinks it's BS they are basically saying "give us concessions or we close".

YRC does not have enough positive assets for chapter 11. Make it work or close the doors.

You can have your opinion. But your opinion is an ignorant one for the many reasons already listed in this thread and numerous others you have posted in. This isn't a concession vote. This is a vote to keep us employed and the company operating.......period.....end of discussion. Why can't you and the likes of you get that through your heads. Thankfully there are many of us who are intelligent enough to understand the severity of the situation we are in and are willing to take a cut to keep this company's head above water.

Reg,
stop wasting your time. 10% is getting lost in the translation. Unfortunately it's the important 10%. If he and the likes of him understood the 10% they would be voting yes. No matter how hard you try, you can't widen narrow minds.

he's right reg342...we can complain and argue about this forever.....IGNORANCE IS IGNORANCE.....hopefully, there will be enough of "us" voting yes to get this through....g

I think the original question 'why not bankruptcy' is a fair question if we look at as a way to provide time to re-organize the debt.

Of course they don't want to utter the word because the competitors would jump on that and they would suck the remaining freight out from under us.

"Why isn't bankruptcy an option" isn't really a fair question when you see all the people that responded they Already Knew it would cancel our contract (I was only guessing-- others already knew; and teamster02 who seems arrogant that he "knows so much" showed his ignorance on this issue, and should be hiding with his tail tucked between his legs after all the others got involved).

Would a customer put his freight on a Bankrupt Carrier? One that no one knew would actually deliver his freight? Declare bankruptcy of any division, and I'm Guessing (not knowing) that we'd lose our customers. That would be the same thing as shutting down. For instance, at Preston we never officially shut down- we only shut down "picking up freight". I waked into Preston's dispatch to clock out the day they ended-- one of the bosses said "You can't quit-- what if we reorganize?" I told him-- "The first guys applying will ge the best jobs. We're done-- no pick-ups, no frieght. No Freight, no Preston." We can't afford to "test" customers, period.......not in the Service Industry.
