While I don't hold either party solely responsible for the depression no were have I read that the tax cuts were any part of the cause. It was a everybody fault, the Govt, the rich, and even the middle class.

The following links to an article about the causes of the Great Depression that supports your post. So, I'll concede on this one but I will continue to argue that there are economists who maintain that the tax cuts contributed as well.

Here's one of them...

Because there is no comprehensive immigration policy in place at the moment. Keep in mind, most of these people are refugees, fleeing starvation and violence in their own countries. International and United States law requires them to be admitted to this country pending a hearing to determine if their claim for refugee status is valid. If so, they can stay. If not, they are returned to their countries.

Those of us born in this country could never even imagine the horrors these people have had to suffer. None of us have ever felt true hunger. None of us have ever had to consider that this day might be our last day on earth. None of us have ever had to witness our children endure the pain these children have had to endure. Walk a mile in someone else's shoes before you condemn them. These are not murderers or rapists or terrorists. They're people who need help. America was always the country where the poorest came to start a new life. It was the land of opportunity. Once admitted, these people contribute to our society. They are not eligible for social services. They have to work their way out of poverty and most of them do.
That’s the minority. The ones border jumping to Canada are more well dressed than I am. Louis Vaton luggage, it’s a joke. Most of them arrive on a student visa or tourist visa, and a couple days later they hop the northern border.

If what you say is true, and I'm not disputing it, then maybe we need a wall on our northern border as well. That's how ridiculous this whole debate has become. The fact is that almost all terrorists, rapists and murderers arrive in this country in exactly that way. They enter on visa and simply never bother to go home.

It's completely unfair to classify an entire group of people based on the actions of a few. Our immigration and border agents do a fantastic job of weeding these criminals out and sending them on their way home or to a prison either here or in their own country. It's inevitable that some get by and it's tragic that some do commit crimes against law abiding citizens. Let's not forget that since 9/11 the vast majority of terrorist attacks in this country have not been committed by Muslim radicals but by insane right wing extremists born right here in the good old USA.

Let's not forget those terrorists on 9/11 entered the USA from Canada.

It’s true. I see them almost nightly at Canada customs. The third party nations agreement says they have to apply for refugee status in the country they land in. Most have been ordered deported, overstayed their work or tourist visa, and try to claim it here in Canada.

The teamsters also support the Democrat party with obscene amounts of money. I would never knowingly give a dime to any organization that financially supports a political party that hates my ideas and beliefs. I will take my chances working without representation from anti capitalist organizations. Right now, and for the past 31 years, it has worked out fine for me.
Do you drink the kool-aid or mix it? You need to crawl out from under that rock you live under and educate yourself; and by educating I mean don't watch Fox News. The Teamsters do more for you than any Republican has ever done for you.
Unless I'm looking at this wrong, it appears that the Teamsters since 1990 have donated 38.3million to Dems vs. 2.4million to GOP. I would appear that WiggleWagondrvr is not as far off as Superdoubler believes he is. https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/totals.php?id=D000000066&cycle=A

You know something....if the actions of a few in an entire group result in crimes committed against American citizens by illegals, regardless of how they entered the country, then we need to do whatever is deemed necessary to curb it. The main function of any sitting president including DJT, is to protect the people from threats both foreign and domestic. Stop making excuses for illegals who kill, ****, steal from, and assault our fellow Americans. Why don't you talk this blather to the father of Kate Steinle or parents of others who have lost offspring at the hands of an illegal alien invader? You're likely to get drilled in the face. You said earlier that "refugees" deserve a chance to have a better life? How about this, they have an unalienable right to secure their freedom in the same manner the Founders defeated the Crown during the American Revolution. Until those people living Honduras and other central American countries are willing to step up and fight for their freedom, we have no business letting any of them in, intentions be damned! Stop apologizing for them. It's not our fault that people living in other countries have it so bad, there is no good reason, IMO why we should make it our responsibility to care for them.

I g
Because that's what civilized societies do. Remember when the wealthiest people in France kept ALL the money for themselves and left the rest of the people to starve to death. Marie said Let them eat cake. In 1848, there were a series of economic revolutions throughout Europe, from Sicily, through Italy and into Germany, Belgium and Spain; all because the income inequality at the time , caused starvation and death. World history is spotted with economic revolutions where the ruling class turned their backs on their countrymen in need. It's always about the money. The wealthiest of us always find a way to exploit the differences in us and keep us at each others throat while they steal the money right out of our pockets, They'll use race, religion, ethic associations and whatever else they can to divide us and keep us hating each other and they just keep counting the cash.

It's the tale of the company president calling two of his employees into his office for a chat. One man is white and the other is black. As they chat, his secretary brings in a tray of a dozen cookies. The president takes 11 cookies and puts them in his pocket. He discreetly pulls the white man to the side and says "Don't let that :censored: steal your cookie".
I should become successful and earn enough so I can support the slackers, is it not enough to give them a job and pay them fairly?
Why do the "wealthiest" have the burden of supporting the slackers? Look around it's not 1848.

As soon as they cross illegally they are criminals, why should the get a break? thousands if not millions cross legally, it is not or should not be our responsibility to save the world, lets save us first.

Really? nobody here in this country has ever endured those things? You need to get a grasp of reality and look around. I see lot's of guys that faced death and lost limbs or suffered PTSD at the VA hospital I go to, Go take your poor me bull ::shit:: someplace else.

That's what I say, they are not entitled to any Legal Representative or even a Hearing.
Treating them Humanely doesn't mean
Let them in give free unlimited medical, food stamps free housing and all the perks they can get. Send them back out as fast as they came in. Build the Wall!!

Why would you expect them to give to a party that offers nothing to labor and does not support unionization as one of its core beliefs. It would make no sense.

I think we getting off topic when we’re discussing border security in the union forum . :off topic:

From 1920 to 1923 the federal budget was cut in half from $6.4 billion to $3.1 billion. The top tax rate was sliced during these years from 73 percent to 56 percent, and, when Harding died in 1923, his vice president, Calvin Coolidge, cut that rate further to 25 percent. So, you see it was Republican policy of cutting taxes to the richest 1% that caused the Great Depression. When corporations receive tax cuts, they fail to reinvest in their businesses. They stop expansion and research and development. When this happens, jobs for the working class dry up and the middle class disappears. It's all great for the wealthiest among us for a while as I'm sure you're familiar with the roaring 20's. But this economic policy doesn't work and eventually falls apart.

You use Venezuela as an example. What about Denmark, Finland, Sweeden, France, Germany, England etc. Almost all first world economically developed countries offer universal single payer health care and free education to their citizens. How do they do it yet, the greatest country in the world...can't?
Those Euro Nations all have 70 % tax brackets for everyone PLUS a VAT Tax of 20% for their "Free Healthcare"

Go for it....

But them Kimmel may be on of those 'Middle Class" Hollywood pukes..

Just like your beloved Soviet Union.
Only the rich politicians lever lived good....
Typical socialists....

My daddy reads this forum once in awhile. He applauds the anti-socialistic people here. Divide and conquer. The weak are complaining illegals collecting welfare. Companies like my daddy's can steal from the taxpayer all the sooner with TIF's, subsidies and thanks for the government shutdown along with lobbies paying politicians to break regulations, my wealthy friends can steal more from the common folk. By the time you realized what took place it will be too late. Thank you! Your gratitude has paid for my Ivy League schooling and my Bentley, thanks to welfare (the corporate kind.)

And...that's how it's done, my friends. Take an emotional "hot button" issue like immigration and divide men who, under any other circumstances, have everything else in common. Joe's Bar and Trucknfool once liked much of what I posted. Now, that we have a difference of opinion on immigration is my credibility with them is gone. I certainly hope not.

The issue here is still union representation or not. Nothing has changed and I won't let politics cloud the issue. Whatever each of us believes outside this issue should be irrelevant, as we still have the same goals for our future in this industry; a voice in the workplace, a fair days pay for a fair days work, job security and fair compensation. Don't let my opinion on anything distract you from the matter at hand. Immigration, abortion, LGBT rights and any other hot button issue may or may not affect each of us personally but union representation definitely affects ALL of us. I took a chance voicing my opinion here and I stand by everything I posted. I respect your right to stand by everything you posted and in spite of our differences, I implore you not to play their game. Do not let them win by distracting us from the real issues at hand. Stay focused.

That's why we have ICE agents, but some state and city plan illegal laws that don't allow cops to notify ICE when the arrest one of these people.

What you fail to see is that once they cross illegally, or overstay there visa they are now criminals. We have laws on the books and it seems some what to pick and choose what laws they want to follow. You have no problem calling out XPO when they break a law while dealing with the union do you and then you want satisfaction. Now if someone goes into your house without your permission you will call the cops and have them removed or arrested. What would you say if when the cop showed up said there nothing he could do. The whole this person is eating your food, using you electric, water, and when he can take your money out of you account.
When people start looking at the boarder the same way as you do their house then action will be taken.
